The developers of SWTOR responded to criticism and are adjusting the numbers for the companions – we have the specific details for you.
Much has been learned
In a rather extensive post in the official forum, Lead Designer Michael Backus directly addresses the players and apologized for the changes, that were made to the companions with the last patch. According to many players, the companions became too weak and were no longer a real help in completing missions.
Backus explains that there are many factors that need to be taken into account to keep a game exciting for as many players as possible. While player X perceives the gameplay as too difficult, player Y might struggle with the tasks and therefore doesn’t try certain content at all.
The new strength of the companions (Patch 4.0.0) led to many players completing hero missions solo and really enjoying it – that was taken away from them with Patch 4.0.2, and it was realized too late how important it had become for most.
Not as strong as before, but better than now
The specific changes are adjusting the numbers around the companions back up considerably. Here are the planned adjustments so far:
- Channelled healing from companions will be increased by 61%.
- Single-target healing from companions will be increased by 42%.
- Healing over time from companions will be increased by 43%.
- Base attributes of companions will be increased by 15%.
Keep in mind that the increase in base attributes also results in an increase in damage dealt (by about 15% as well).
However, there is still no fixed date for the next patch, it will likely take a few more weeks.
