In exactly two weeks, the second digital expansion for SWTOR “Shadow of Revan” will be released, and our colleagues at IGN had the opportunity to talk with the developers in more detail about the new content, bringing to light some very exciting details.
“We have not treated the character Revan as he deserved so far,” says Bruce Maclean, the Senior Producer for the game. Especially to the question “What happens to Revan anyway?” players have not found a satisfactory answer yet. Of course, the famous character already appears multiple times, such as in the quest lines on NarShaddaa or Tatooine – but mostly only in the form of his followers, the “Revanites.” You can only really see him in the Flashpoint “The Factory,” and there his fate is more than uncertain, and fans of the universe found his appearance there rather weak.
Furthermore, it is said, “This will be Revan’s last chapter. Probably.” and that seems only logical, as the once balance-of-the-force-concerned warrior now poses a threat to all factions of the galaxy.
From a narrative standpoint, “Shadow of Revan” is supposed to be the most convincing part of “Star Wars: The Old Republic” so far, as they want to adequately treat such an important character.
No end in sight even in 2015
Subsequently, the developers issued a pretty bold prediction that makes you want more: If players like how the “Revan” story is handled, then they can look forward to 2015, as it will be the “big year” for Star Wars: The Old Republic. With such a statement, you certainly take a big mouthful, but it is meant to convey a clear message to the players: Even in the coming year, you can expect exciting new content again. Just a few months ago, the people in charge at Bioware mentioned that they expect increased interest from the new Star Wars films. It is to be assumed that SWTOR will also benefit from this, and they do not want to leave this advantage unused.
