If you enjoy Asian martial arts and battle royale, you should be looking forward to Swordsman X. This game from China combines wild close combat and survival aspects with battle royale.
The battle royale genre has already seen heavyweights like H1Z1, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and the crazy Fortnite: Battle Royale. Soon, more titles in the genre will be released, such as the survival battle royale Darwin Project or the colorful Paladins: Battlegrounds featuring its heroes.
However, what does not exist yet: A Kung Fu survival battle royale game!
Black Desert meets PUBG
Swordsman X looks at first glance like the beautiful Korean sandbox MMO Black Desert Online thanks to the fancy Unreal Engine 4. But instead of grinding, trading with donkeys, or growing vegetables, Swordsman X is about slaughter and the fight for survival.
As a Wuxia fighter, you roam the open world and kill other Wuxia fighters with your Kung Fu. Or with sharp blades, bows, and spears. There seems to be plenty of weapons in the game.
By the way, if you’re wondering what Wuxia is: It generally refers to stories about Asian martial arts.
Also exciting: Swordsman X wants you to communicate verbally and offers only limited text chat functions.
A China game without microtransactions?
Swordsman X comes from China but is NOT a Free2Play game. Instead, Swordsman X is supposed to be a Buy2Play title. And the infamous microtransactions are also not supposed to be there. However, Swordsman X is intended to be just the first part of a trilogy of similar games.
Here you can get a first impression of the game:
Swordsman X has just completed a limited beta but is still in development. The game is supposed to be released in China for PC later this year.
