Some have certainly already heard: Recently, Perfect World, the publisher of Neverwinter and Star Trek Online, announced a new title called “Swordsman”. What makes this Asian spin-off special is that it is a Martial Arts MMORPG based on the famous novels by Louis Cha – which have sold over 100 million copies worldwide. Not bad, right?
One can almost expect an exciting story, as long as the developer studio does not mess up the implementation. This is also the central theme of the video: We are given insight into the elaborate story of the upcoming free-to-play MMORPG Swordsman. You also get a good impression of the game’s graphics and atmosphere.
It definitely reminds me of Age of Wulin, especially since there is talk of unique fighting styles, schools, and battles for guild territories. I am still a bit unsure whether such a specialized title can be successful here. The times when Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and especially Chuck Norris filled the cinemas are quite a while ago.
