The new MMORPG Swords of Legends Online (SOLO) features an interesting housing system where you can buy your own island and design an area according to your wishes. We at MeinMMO will tell you everything you need to know about housing.
This is how you get your own house: To utilize housing in Swords of Legends, you must first reach the maximum level Student 1. We have explained how this works in our leveling guide to SOLO.
Once you have reached the maximum level, you will receive the quest “Residence in the Clouds” through cultivation. You must follow this quest to get your own island.
However, to buy your own island, you need 200 gold. When purchasing, you select one of the available islands, which are all the same size but differ slightly in layout. For some islands, the building area is in the north, while others have it in the west, south, or east.
What can you do in housing?
- You grow various materials that you can harvest at regular intervals. However, these materials are only usable for housing.
- With these materials, you can expand your fields, stone areas, as well as the storage and workshops.
- You can also use the materials to craft houses, walls, decorations, and plants that you can then place on the building area as you wish.
- However, housing does not provide gameplay advantages, such as materials for crafting or bonuses in the open world. It is mainly for personal enjoyment.
Can you visit the houses of other players: Yes, if you interact with one of the portals around housing (for example, in Cloud Heights, but also on your own island), you can activate the residence teleport. You will then have various cloud realms and islands to choose from.
You can also post your island as a code in chat, allowing other players to teleport directly to your house with one click. To do this, you just need to open the housing menu (CTRL+J) and click on “Share”.
This is how you get materials in housing
As a basis for housing, acquiring materials plays an important role. You have 2 options:
- Farming in the Soul Soil (2x on your island)
- Farming in the Soul Vein (also 2x on your island)
In this process, you grow each material together with an element. The material determines what items you will receive when harvesting, and the element brings an additional effect, such as 10% more material, faster growth, or additional other materials.
What materials does Soul Soil provide? Through the Soul Soil, you obtain the following materials:
- Level 1 – Goldfiber Wood (Construction Wood) and Jade Snow Grass (Spirit Grass)
- Level 2 – Mulberry Wood and Green Silk Grass.
- Unknown level – Night Fire Wood and Phoenix Dress Grass
What materials does Soul Vein provide? Through the Soul Vein, you obtain:
- Level 1 – Cinnabar Mine (Metal) and Dolomite (Stone Material)
- Level 2 – Sea Gold Ore and Mysterious Stones
- Unknown level – Purple Morning Trench and Hundred Color Stone
How long does it take to grow materials? It takes 23 hours each time until you can harvest the material you have sown. However, this time can be reduced by upgrading certain workshops or through a corresponding element.
What do upgrades of Soul Vein and Soul Soil provide? With each upgrade, new materials are unlocked, and you receive more material when harvesting. It is sufficient to upgrade the Soul Soil or the Soul Vein once to directly achieve both fields at level 2.
Where do you get the essences? While you can grow materials at any time without costs, you must carry the essences in your inventory. You receive these for various activities, such as fishing, the treasure compass, or as a reward for harvesting materials on your own island.
This is how you obtain buildings in housing and place them correctly
Where do you get the recipes? On your island, you will find the research and crafting station. There, you can learn new recipes using the “Spirit’s Handbook” and by using “Cloud House Treasure Coupons”. However, some recipes require a higher level of your residence.
Where exactly you can get the Spirit’s Handbook is currently unknown to us. We will update the guide accordingly. However, during our gameplay, we always had enough of it in our inventory.
You can get the Cloud House Treasure Coupons by exchanging excess materials for them. You can do this at the housekeeper of the residence (by the entrance portal).
Crafting objects: Crafting objects also takes place at the research and crafting station. There, you can see all objects, including those you have not yet learned. Crafting requires materials from housing, Cloud House Treasure Coupons, and activity points.
You earn activity points for logging in and completing tasks in cultivation.
Placing objects: To do this, you must first enter your building area. There you then select “Build Home” and end up in the building menu. The most important part is the “Arrangement of Objects” button. There you can select and place objects.
Under “Blueprint”, you can also save your current house and then build something new. At the beginning, you have one save slot but unlock additional ones as you upgrade your residence.
How many objects are there in housing? In total, there are 1,588 recipes, including:
- 20 different houses
- Over 300 different walls, fences, and gates
- Over 50 different floor coverings
- 20 beds and dozens of cupboards, tables, and benches
- Countless small objects like plates, jugs, or books for house decoration
- Dozens of trees, stones, and other objects for landscape decoration
- The possibility to dig a pond
Additionally, there are other housing objects that you can purchase in the shop for real money, including 2 large temples, as well as various holograms and walls.
Tips and tricks for building:
- Activate the grid if you want to build symmetrically.
- When placing an object, you can resize it using the F1 or F2 keys as desired. This works for almost all items, except houses.
- By clicking “Show Stock Only” in “Arrangement of Objects”, you will see only items you can place.
What else can you adjust in housing? In addition to the area you can decorate, you can also influence the weather on your island. To do this, you need to visit the housekeeper of the residence at the portal. She offers you the options:
- Sun
- Snow
- A mix of sun and snow
Additionally, on a mountain, there are the “Melodies of Legends”. Through this, you can adjust the music on your island. Some music pieces are even tied to dungeon bosses and are dropped by them.
Upgrading the residence
For some recipes and higher levels of Soul Soil and Soul Vein, you need to upgrade your residence. This costs material but also requires others, such as upgrading your workbenches or researching a certain number of recipes.
The upgrade always takes place through the “Upgrade” button in the upper right corner. This applies to both your residence itself and the various workbenches.
What is the maximum residence level? So far, we have found recipes that require residence level 10. However, since growing materials takes a lot of time, it may take several months to reach this level.
The various workbenches and their functions
Basically, only the research and crafting station, as well as the Soul Soil and Soul Vein have an active function. The other workshops only provide passive effects.
This is what the Baigong Workshop provides: The higher the level of the workshop, the more Soul Grass you can store. Additionally, the growth time of grass is reduced (by 2.5% at level 2).
This is what the Millstone Platform provides: The higher the level, the more stone material you can store. Furthermore, the growth time of stone is reduced (by 2.5% at level 2).
This is what the Planer provides: The higher the level, the more wood material can be stored. Additionally, the growth time of wood is reduced (by 2.5% at level 2).
This is what the Forge provides: The higher the level, the more minerals can be stored. Additionally, the growth time of minerals/metals is reduced (by 2.5% at level 2).
This is what the Storage provides: The storage increases the space for storing residence objects (i.e., the items that can be placed in housing).
