As in other MMORPGs, Swords of Legends Online is all about the best gear. We at MeinMMO have compiled the most important information for you. The guide will be expanded over time with upcoming updates.
The most important points at a glance:
- There is separate gear for PvE and PvP.
- You have a total of 15 equipment items that you wear on your body (5 accessories, 6 armors, 1 weapon, 3 class symbols).
- There are 6 storage slots for different equipment sets. Each equipped gear in these slots does not take up inventory space.
- You can obtain the best gear through dungeons and various in-game currencies or directly through PvP.
- Each piece of gear can be upgraded, and there are no failures in these upgrades.
What equipment levels are needed? For dungeons on Normal difficulty, you should have an equipment level of 45, for Hard difficulty 50, and for Extreme 60+, although there are currently no dungeons of that difficulty active in the beta.
In PvP, you can get quite far with equipment at level 50 that you receive directly through the tutorial.
What is the maximum equipment level? We cannot say for sure yet, but the highest equipment we have seen so far was level 75 (PvE). In PvP, there are already vendors selling equipment at level 70.
You can only reach equipment level 75 in PvE if you farm a lot. Equipment at levels 50 and 60, however, is relatively easy to obtain.
This is how you get equipment in PvE
What ways are there to obtain good equipment in PvE? We at MeinMMO have found 3 ways to get good equipment in PvE:
First, you receive equipment chests for defeating bosses in group dungeons. These contain Normal level 50 equipment, and Hard difficulty provides level 60. Presumably, there will be equipment level 70 available in Extreme, but this is not yet confirmed.
Secondly, you can buy equipment through your companion. For that, press the “P” key and go to “Crafting”. There you will find items of level 60 that you can buy for Soul Qi and Mysterious Text Fragments.
Additionally, there is crafting, which you can access by pressing the “I” key. However, this only has equipment of level 45. It serves as a middle step between the open-world gear and the story quests (equipment levels 35 to 40) and then the two methods mentioned above.
However, crafting is quite expensive and time-consuming.
With this, you can achieve the currently maximum equipment level of 75. You get this by upgrading the equipment from crafting. For that, you need special items like this one (thanks to AdventureApe for the screenshot):
You receive the recipes for upgrading for 16 gold each from Chingyu, the recipe teacher in Wolkenstieg (at the workbench).
You can also craft equipment for your companions.
Where do you get Soul Qi and Text Fragments?
- You get Soul Qi by feeding food and equipment items to your companion.
- Mysterious Text Fragments are a currency that you get for weekly Bloodruvia Bounties, the weekly Emerald Lanterns, and daily/weekly dungeon runs.
This is how you get equipment in PvP
By completing the PvP tutorial, you already receive equipment at level 50. Through further quests and as rewards in matches, you get equipment at level 55.
At certain vendors in Wolkenstieg, there is stronger equipment, level 60 or even level 70 with 5 upgrades. For that, you need:
- Continent credits, from which you can earn a maximum of 100,000 per week (you need between 8,000 and 20,000 per equipment piece). You get these from all PvP content.
- A specific PvP currency like the Duel Seal, which you only get from the 3v3 arena (maximum 20,000 per week, with between 4,000 and 10,000 needed per equipment piece).
You will find the vendors in the Yaotian Palace north of Wolkenstieg.
This is how you upgrade equipment
What equipment can be upgraded? In principle, any equipment that has at least one enhancement level. You can see how many enhancement levels an equipment has by hovering over it with the mouse. The best equipment has up to 6 enhancement levels, while the first equipments only have one level.
How do enhancements work? For that, you need to visit a blacksmith in Wolkenstieg or another location. This blacksmith upgrades your equipment for a small fee in gold and seal stones.
Seal stones of level 1 upgrade your equipment up to equipment level 45. Beyond that, you will need higher seal stones. Enhancements can never fail, but permanently improve your equipment.
Where do you get seal stones? You receive seal stones of level 1 in large quantities at the beginning, including from quests, bounties, and dungeons.
Seal stones of level 2 are obtained from difficult dungeons. Additionally, you can upgrade seal stones of level 1 to level 2 stones through the crafting interface under “Refine Soul Stones”. You get the recipe from Chingyu, the recipe teacher in Wolkenstieg (at the workbench). Filter by “Beginner” instead of “Student” to see the recipe.
This is how the sockets with jade work
Through various quests and by defeating bosses, you receive jade that you can socket into your equipment:
- Red-labeled jade provides additional physical or magical strength in accessories and, depending on the path, increases attack, defense, or healing in class symbols.
- Blue Moon Jade (green) provides additional sprint in accessories and extra dexterity in class symbols.
- Indigo Feather Jade (blue) brings path knowledge in accessories and increases critical physical or magical hits or defense against critical hits (depending on your own path).
If you can apply sockets to your equipment, you can open the corresponding menu with “Shift+Left Click”. You can then easily insert the socket.
Can you remove sockets again? No, you cannot remove the old sockets. However, you can simply place a new one if you want to change the values.
What is advanced socketing? This refers to the ability to integrate an extra socket into equipment. For that, you need a Dragon Talisman, which can supposedly be bought from certain vendors. However, you won’t be able to insert the usual sockets, but rather special runes that provide healing for a portion of the damage dealt.
