Bathtub streams have been a big stir on Twitch in recent weeks. Streamers often appear in bathtubs or hot tubs wearing minimal clothing. However, a completely different channel is benefiting from such streams: An animal clinic in the USA showcases cute otters playing in the water and is now at least somewhat conquering the Hot Tub category.
This is the situation around the bathtub streams: For some time now, streamers like Amouranth or Indiefoxx have been increasingly successful on Twitch. They appear in bikinis in a hot tub and chat with their viewers.
Recently, there have been major points of contention. Some streamer colleagues, like MontanaBlack, and viewers consider such streams too revealing for Twitch. On the other hand, it is allowed, as Twitch does not allow streams in lingerie, but it is approved in swimwear in the water.
Twitch reacted to the viewers’ criticism and introduced a new category: “Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches”. Under this category, hot tub streams can continue to take place, as well as all other streams related to water and beaches.
Sweet otters rank 5th in the category
This channel is growing quickly: If you look at the most viewed channels in the “Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches” category, you mainly find young women who are doing well. However, the channel “MarineMammalRescue” stands out. No humans are shown, but sea creatures that have been taken in by a rescue station.
The channel even ranks 5th in the new hot tub category over the last 7 days. More than 50,000 hours have been spent on the channel during this time.

What does MarineMammalRescue show? There you mainly see cute otters playing, cuddling, or sleeping in the water all day. The channel streams day and night and shows the otters in every situation. This is enough for many viewers, as the adorable animals have averaged 754 viewers in the last 3 days. At peak times, there were even over 3600 simultaneous viewers.
This is what makes it special: The channel of MarineMammalRescue has especially become successful due to the new hot tub category. Previously, the channel streamed in the “Travel & Outdoors” category, where there were usually only around 50 viewers at a time. Since switching to the new category, there has been a real boost in viewers.
In just the last 3 days, the channel gained almost 16,000 new followers and viewer numbers grew by almost 800%. The channel also uses funny descriptions for the streams. For example, they call their streams “#1 Cold Tub” and use words like “Thicc” or “Hot” to describe the cute sea otters.
It remains to be seen whether the hype around the otters will last or even grow larger. After all, the new category for hot tubs only started a few days ago.
