The survival MMO Last Oasis has recently struggled significantly with dwindling player numbers. The developers have now announced a release on Xbox consoles – and the start of Season 2.
This is how Last Oasis is doing on Steam: While the peak player count during the successful launch of the game in April 2020 was still at 33,104 players, the numbers have melted away in recent months. At the beginning of October, 99% of the players of Last Oasis had disappeared.
Even now, a good month and a half later, it doesn’t look much better: While there was a slight increase in numbers, Last Oasis still only reports an average of 648 players and 1,308 at peak within the last 30 days.

The survival game puts a standstill world in the foreground, which is mercilessly scorched by the sun and demands everything from the players to survive. Additionally, there is a strong focus on PvP elements, which has also led to one of the defining problems of the game: Gankers made life difficult for newcomers.
The developers acknowledged the issues, but stated that they are not too worried. Improvements are in the works and will lure players back.
And now, indeed, innovations are on the way for Last Oasis. While the game fights for survival on Steam, it is making another attempt on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Last Oasis is coming to Xbox One & Series X in 2021
When is Last Oasis coming to Xbox? In an announcement, the developers from Donkey Crew stated that Last Oasis will arrive in the Xbox Games Store in the first quarter of 2021. It will then be playable on both Xbox One and the new consoles Xbox Series X and S. In line with this, there is a short Xbox trailer:
The team speaks of complete optimizations of the game for consoles as well as updates across all platforms. Additionally, the Xbox version is supposed to be seamlessly playable in crossplay with PC.
What else is coming? In addition to the Xbox launch for 2021, the developers also announced the start of Season 2 with improvements and changes for Last Oasis. This will begin on November 22 and will come with a complete server wipe.
Will the survival MMO manage to turn things around with the new season and later on console? Some other games have not managed to do this – but now continue to live on private servers.
