The survival game Last Oasis is losing massive players. The downward trend continues and soon all players could be gone.
What about Last Oasis? The peak player count according to Steamcharts was 33,104 concurrent players at the launch of Last Oasis in April 2020.
Now only 219 are left. This means that the survival game has lost around 99% of its entire community. This is a catastrophic result and the trend on Steamcharts shows that it is likely to keep going downward.
What is the reason? Last Oasis launched in April 2020 with an interesting game concept. A survival game with an exciting story where the Earth no longer rotates and the sun scorches everything.
This promised many adventures with PvP battles. The construction of wooden walkers and the battles among them attracted players.
But there were massive issues with so-called gankers who continually attacked newcomers. Last Oasis relies on an open PvP system where basically anything is allowed. You even lose hard-earned resources through defeat. Some players exploited this to ruin the fun for others.
Have the developers reacted yet? The team is aware of the state of the game and wants to counteract it with upcoming updates. So far, however, nothing has happened.
The developers have also stated they are not too worried. They are working on improvements and optimizations, and once these go live, according to the team’s opinion, the players will return as well.
How likely is that? Currently, the situation looks as though Last Oasis will continue to lose its last remaining players. The number simply keeps declining.
Whether those players will return is questionable. If a larger update is released that truly implements extensive changes and improvements, then surely some will check back in Last Oasis. However, how many that will be is uncertain.
It is conceivable that some may simply turn their backs on the game and look elsewhere. After all, there are some alternatives in the survival sector.
