What kind of event is it? One of the largest global events in Pokémon GO is the annual GO Fest. This will take place again in 2022 and brings various location-based live events. For example, you can participate in such an event in Berlin.
The event will take place there from July 1 to July 3, 2022, in Britzer Garten, and you have the opportunity to participate on one of the days with the corresponding event ticket. However, the tickets are particularly sparking considerable discussion on social media.
What criticism is there about the tickets for the GO Fest in Berlin?
What tickets are available? To participate in the live event for the GO Fest 2022 in Berlin, you need a special ticket. Niantic distinguishes between a general admission ticket from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time, which costs you €24.99, and a so-called “Early Access ticket”.
With this, you can start catching Pokémon two hours earlier, at 9:00 AM, but you will pay €32.13 for it. Additionally, you have the option to secure so-called “Add-Ons”, which grant you special bonuses during raids or egg-hatching. Each of the two add-ons costs an additional €10.06.
This annoys trainers: The ticket for the GO Fest in Berlin has sparked considerable discussion on social networks, such as the reddit community. Many players are particularly critical of the high ticket prices and the additional costly add-ons.

The majority of trainers agree: As can be seen from your responses, the vast majority will not buy a ticket for the GO Fest in Berlin. Nevertheless, a total of 13% of you want to be part of the live event. Additionally, over 100 participants are also willing to book at least one add-on to benefit from the respective bonuses.
Reasons why so many trainers are not buying a ticket for the live event in Berlin
In the comments in our Facebook group, some trainers have shared why they will not purchase the ticket. For many trainers, the high ticket price played a decisive role:

- Do Reen: “I have a season pass for Britzer Garten. I certainly won’t pay an extra €35 for a few Pokémon”
- Stefan K.: “Way too expensive. They should make it cheaper; more people would play, and in total, it would balance out”
- Tanja K.: “No one is forced… but I find it too expensive. I would also have to travel to Berlin… given the gas prices.”
- Selina P.: “€35 for just one day seems rather steep to me, even if it’s a live event. I would have found the price more reasonable for the whole weekend. Prices are really extreme nowadays. Niantic seems to have lost their perspective and smells big money with this game. It’s a shame. I believe more players would probably buy a ticket if it were cheaper.”
Counterarguments: In the comments, however, you can also find opinions from players who find the price justified. For example, Rene E. writes: “It’s all right; after all, the majority of people certainly spend more on concerts for definitely fewer hours.”
And Melanie S. is also sure: “The prices haven’t increased more than during the times when the GO Fest was in Dortmund.”
