The multiplayer of Elden Ring is always good for surprising encounters, both in coop and PvP. This was also the case for a couple who wanted to complete a dungeon together. They were visited by an apparent PvP enemy, but the meeting went quite differently than usual.
In Elden Ring, players can either deliberately or randomly challenge others in the game. One can invade the game world of other players as an intruder and attack them.
This also happened to the user TheCriticalGamer. However, he describes an encounter that turns out differently than one would expect.
Instead of attacking, the intruder behaved unusually peacefully. The meeting was even so friendly that the user wrote a thank you note on reddit.
If you want to know how exactly coop and PvP work, you can read it in our guide to the multiplayer of Elden Ring.
“You now live rent-free in my head.”
What exactly happened? According to TheCriticalGamer, he was just with his girlfriend in coop trying to finish a dungeon.
Eventually, they were visited by the intruder. But they quickly realized that something was weird. Instead of attacking as usual, the PvP player was suspiciously calm.
At first, they engaged in a sort of staring contest for 10 minutes:
You ambushed me and my girlfriend while we were on our way to a dungeon. When we tried to lure you into a trap, you made a casual greeting gesture for 10 minutes until I finally gave in and came out to follow you.
The experienced Souls player knows: In 99 out of 100 cases, this would be a troll attempt. But not in this case.
According to the player, the PvP player not only did not launch a single attack, but instead helped the couple through the dungeon up to the boss door.
The player himself was so surprised by the action that it probably stayed on his mind:
You then led us through the entire dungeon, solved all the puzzles, brought us to the boss entrance, and then left. I was so baffled that I couldn’t think of anything else for the rest of the day.
He further wishes the player all the best: “If you are out there, I wish you good luck, you glorious bastard. You now live rent-free in my head.”
This encounter seems to have left a lasting impression, according to the user’s words.
In the comments, players report similar experiences. While 90% of PvP invaders are hostile and often use nasty tactics, there are always players who stand out from the crowd.
This is where many also highlight the best aspect of multiplayer in games like Elden Ring. Every encounter is unique, and unexpected things can happen.
In the eyes of the players, this is a significant unique selling point compared to many other multiplayer games that always follow a set pattern.
But how do you see it? Have you also had such interesting encounters in the multiplayer of Elden Ring? Or do you avoid the online mode? Are you perhaps one of those invaders who like to behave unpredictably?
