The Steam and Twitch hit “Among Us” makes its way to the Nintendo Switch. The indie game is already available in the eShop.
Nintendo announced: In the “Indie World”, Nintendo announced several indie games that will be coming to the Switch soon. And right at the end of the presentation, “Among Us” suddenly made an appearance.
The special thing: Among Us is not only coming “soon” to the Switch, but is already available now, on December 15, 2020, in the Nintendo eShop. The Switch version supports crossplay with other versions.
How much does Among Us cost on Switch? While Among Us is free on mobile, it is not free-to-play on Switch. In the eShop, Among Us is currently priced at 4.29 euros. For comparison: If you buy it on Steam, you currently have to pay 3.99 euros.
What is Among Us?
Among Us is actually a smaller indie game that was released in 2018. However, in 2020 it suddenly took a huge leap and became a hit on Steam and the streaming platform Twitch. The game is well-suited to maintain some friendships over distance (or destroy them).
In Among Us, you take on the role of one of several crew members who must complete tasks on a spaceship. However, one or more crew members are evil aliens who want to take out the crew – the “Impostors”. Impostors have the ability to crawl through vents and kill crew members.
The task of the crew members, in turn, is to uncover the “Impostors” and vote them off the ship. Communication is only allowed in specific phases – and if the Impostor plays cleverly, other crew members get jettisoned into the cold of space. It all runs similarly to the party game “Werewolf”.
By the way, this extremely popular game has now spawned many clones.
