Next weekend, a global event will start in The Division. Massive surprises with this announcement!
Completely unexpectedly, the official Twitter channel of The Division just announced on Tuesday afternoon (February 27th): Next weekend, a global event will take place in the shared-world shooter.
“A surprise global event this weekend?” ask the developers and immediately provide the answer themselves: “Yes. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill.”
More information, including the times of the global event, will be provided in the next State of the Game. This will take place on Thursday at 5 PM, and we will report on it.
What can we expect at this global event?
Massive announced weeks ago that they want to repeat the previous global events in 2018. However, when they will start doing so has been unclear until now.
Therefore: The global event next weekend will not be a “new event” with new modifiers and new loot, but a repetition of a previous global event.
So far, four global events have taken place:
- Global Event 1 “Outbreak” took place in mid-August 2017 – The secret sets were Lone Hero, Final Measure, and DeadEYE
- Global Event 2 “Assault” took place in early October 2017 – The secret sets were Striker, Sentinel, and Reclaimer
- Global Event 3 “Assault” took place in mid-December 2017 – The secret sets were Path of the Nomad, D3-FNC, Predator, and Banshee
- Global Event 4 “Ambush” took place in late January 2018 – The secret sets were AlphaBridge, Firecrest, Hunter’s Faith, and Tactician
Which event will be repeated is still unknown. Presumably, it will be the first event, which had the global modifier that increased headshot damage for a short time through headshot kills in all PvE activities and caused headshots to explode: A cloud then streamed out from the heads of the killed enemies and inflicted bleeding on nearby enemies.
How will the upcoming global event differ from the previous ones?
The modifiers of the upcoming global event will be the same as those that already took place. The secret gear sets that were released back then will again be available through the event containers – at least we strongly assume so. Thus, you will again have a significantly increased chance of obtaining the corresponding classified gear.
Additionally, Massive announced last week that in future global events there will be new, special classified gear containers. These ensure a secret set piece of a gear set featured in this global event. However, this new feature presumably will not be active yet next weekend, as the developers emphasized that they are currently still working on it.
