The Dino Survival MMO ARK: Survival Evolved will soon have a new resident. The Tropeognathus will be the first new flying creature in almost two years and is based on a real model from the early Cretaceous period. However, you can also turn it into a jet.
What’s happening: With the next update on June 4th, the mod map Crystal Isles will officially be released for all PC players. PS4 and Xbox players will still have to wait. The new map will add a flying creature native to the Crystal Isles. The community has been speculating what it could be. Wildcard has now revealed the solution.
This is the Tropeognathus: The Tropeognathus, unlike the last new dinos, has a real model and originates from the early Cretaceous period.
With a wingspan of over 8 meters, the Tropeognathus is one of the larger flying creatures in ARK. It is said to have impressive stamina and can be compared to a Quetzal. It is slow and is primarily used as a long-range flight mount when tamed. However, the Tropeo can also take advantage of favorable winds and the draft of others to move faster.
How to turn the Tropeognathus into a feared jet: Wildcard wouldn’t be Wildcard if they didn’t come up with a quirky idea. So, it’s no surprise that the Tropeo has a special feature as well.
With the Tropeognathus saddle, the flying creature gets a gun and a jet propulsion system. This will turn the otherwise slow flyer into a fighter jet.
What the community says: The ARK community is especially excited about new “real” dinos finding their way into the game. It has been almost 2 years since any new flying creatures were introduced, and the jet propulsion system should provide a lot of fun.

On June 4th, the Tropeognathus will enter the world of ARK. However, only on the new Crystal Isles map. PS4 and Xbox players must still wait for the map, but they will still receive the flying dino on June 4th. Console players will find the Tropeo on every map until the release of Crystal Isles.
