Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch brings together all Smash characters in one game. Nintendo is also revising many characters with new abilities and animations.
Nintendo is bringing Smash Bros. to the Switch with a big bang that fans did not expect. Characters from the original Smash Bros, Melee, and Brawl are joining the fight. This makes Smash Bros the biggest crossover in gaming history.
Release date: Smash Bros Ultimate for the Switch will be released on December 7, 2018.
“What the fans want”
The first complete Smash Bros. Nintendo has gone to the trouble of completely restructuring the game from the ground up. Core mechanics have been revised and new effects have been added.
A few important changes:
- Mario can now use some costumes from Odyssey and fight with his hat
- Kirby has received new costumes for the new fighters
- Link now uses his Ancient Arrow from Breath of the Wild. He now employs Remote Bombs.
- Pikachu is now available in a female version, with a heart-shaped tail
- Fighters have received new facial animations
- Smash on the Switch also offers 8-player battles
- The Landmaster is no longer in the game. Instead, Falco and Fox have new smashes where they attack with their ships.
- The way new characters are acquired has been revised.
- Echo Fighters: These fighters fight similarly to their originals but have different characteristics. For example, Dr. Mario throws pills instead of fireballs.
- Daisy is in the game as an Echo Fighter of Daisy
- Gamecube controllers will be compatible with Smash Bros Ultimate
Smash Ultimate introduces new fighters: Inkling and Ridley
Inkling from Splatoon wants to get in on the action. Inkling uses ink to deal damage to opponents. When opponents are inked, they take more damage. To deal damage, the Inkling relies on various weapons from Splatoon.
His smash attack is the Killer Wail. The fighter has 8 different costumes, each using different ink colors. Once you have used all your ink, you need to refill it by blocking and pressing “b”.
Ridley is now fighting. But at the end of the presentation, Sakurai has a surprise. Fan-favorite Ridley will provide chaos as a playable fighter. Accordingly, there will be a new Ridley and Inkling amiibo.
The fans are excited
Hardcore fans appreciate the changes. On Reddit, Smash fans are particularly excited about the new fighter Ridley. Ridley is a fan favorite, and the community has been wishing for a playable version of him for years. Now that Ridley is in the game, some fans are already joking that the next step would be Son Goku from the Dragon Ball manga.
Fans are also happy about a few technical adjustments:
- Players can now dash cancel
- There is a Battlefield mode for each map
- Percentages are now displayed up to the first decimal place
- Blast Zones are now indicated in the game.
