Summer Game Fest 2024: Once Human and Son Goku are the stars, but Paul Atreides steals the show from them

The Summer Game Fest has replaced E3 as the most important video game show in the world. Host Geoff Keighley has been presenting new games, updates, and more here for years. MeinMMO is live and shows you all the new information, games, and trailers in the ticker.

Where can I watch? On Twitch and YouTube. Our colleagues are covering the show on the GameStar Twitch channel.

00:58 AM

The Summer Game Fest 2024 has come to an end. Day of the Devs and Devolver Digital are next, but I will end the live ticker here and focus on fixing all the typos and adding trailers.

00:56 AM

In the trailer: Gameplay of Phantom Blade on PS5. Visually, it strongly resembles Dark Souls with a Japanese flair: A samurai against zombies, shadows, and giant monsters. Along with explosions and monstrosities with blades for legs.

More information about the game will come later in the year on various shows.

00:54 AM

The last game of the evening will be shown: Phantom Blade Zero.

00:52 AM

Finally, onto the trailer. A hunt in the desert on various steeds. Looks like sandworms from Dune, only much smaller and with legs. And they spit tar!

00:51 AM

Monster Hunter Wilds is coming in 2025 simultaneously for PS5, Xbox, and PC. The Opening Night Live of gamescom will feature more information and a new trailer for the game – as well as the first playable demo!

00:50 AM

We are approaching the end, and one of the highlights for many fans will be shown: Monster Hunter Wilds, and the creator says: At the end of the trailer, a special monster will appear!

00:49 AM

Squad Busters is now available on iOS and Android. But what exactly they wanted to tell us with the trailer, I still don’t know.

00:48 AM

Chris Hemsworth is in it. Okay. But what do I see there? Some kind of mobile squad battler. The ad looks… actually quite good, but what the hell is going on there?

Actors are beating each other up, building squads, chopping wood, applying for office jobs.

00:47 AM

I… what… chickens. On smartphones. Why?

SGF Chickens

00:44 AM

A trailer for the new Pixar film Inside Out 2 featuring a video game character. Apparently, the protagonist has a bit of a crush. The movie will hit theaters on June 14.

00:44 AM

The chat doesn’t seem to be very convinced by Valorant, and I’m also… not quite sure what to make of it. It looks nice, but it’s just an ad, not much new.

00:43 AM

A second trailer of Valorant, this time apparently for the esports events. Hand-drawn scenes alternate with rendered, gameplay, and real arenas. A pretty wild mix.

00:41 AM

Valorant is coming for PS5 and Xbox, and the beta starts on June 14. However, there wasn’t much new to see – just the fact that the entire gameplay was recorded with a controller.

00:39 AM

Valorant, the shooter from LoL creator Riot, is still around and they are presenting their new update.

00:37 AM

“Sakurajima” comes with new Pals, dedicated servers for Xbox, new buildings, and a Japan-themed look with cherry blossoms, castles, and bamboo gardens.

An oil rig comes as a base, and in the arena, you can now have your Pals compete against each other.

A new faction with a boss is also coming.

00:36 AM

Palworld is back with its first major update and promises a whole island as DLC!

00:36 AM

A very elaborate trailer for Skate, um… well, a skate game, where you ride around cities on your board, grind and do whatever else you can do with a skateboard.

The playtest on console is coming this fall.

00:35 AM

The trailer could also somehow be from a US sitcom. It reminds of The Office – only with a nasty twist and an open ending.

00:34 AM

A report from M Corp directly from the office that is not quite secretly destroying data. What might be coming?

00:34 AM

Correct, Party Animals is back with an update.

00:34 AM

Hmm… cute animals fighting and throwing themselves off various stages, shocking each other with weapons and more… That can only mean one thing.

00:32 AM

Back to the wilder things of the evening, a co-op game in a comic style with cyberpunk feeling.

Hyper Light Breaker is coming later this summer on Steam.

00:32 AM

The next anime trailer: With katanas and magic, it’s here against huge bosses like in Monster Hunter.

Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess comes on July 19

00:29 AM

Dark and Darker reminds once again that it is now free to play on Steam and Epic.

00:29 AM

Ah, Dark and Darker makes an appearance again! After the major chaos on Steam, there seems to be new information about the game. The gameplay looks familiar: magic, weapon swings, armor, and dungeons full of loot.

00:28 AM

Even more anime trailers. This time Honkai: Star Rail with a new pink-haired fighter.

00:26 AM

Ah, New World: Aeternum is coming on October 25 for Xbox, PS5, and PC. So it looked familiar – and unfortunately it was already leaked before.

00:26 AM

Okay, this looks interesting. Different weapons, classes, mounts?

00:25 AM

The new trailer for Night Springs starts with an old TV recording like from the 80s. Doors are being kicked in, a nurse with a gun, and an actor with a sound screwdriver appears.

00:23 AM

Night Springs comes with three playable characters as DLC for Alan Wake 2. And the DLC comes TOMORROW, on June 8! That’s a surprise.

00:23 AM

Physical collector’s and deluxe editions for Alan Wake 2 can be pre-ordered starting tomorrow.

00:22 AM

The creator of Alan Wake 2 dances onto the stage because that’s how he’s allowed to appear, he says. Oooookay.

00:21 AM

The Japanese city of Kyoto is coming as a new arena, new weapons and gadgets are coming, a bow is visible, along with costumes reminiscent of anime cosplays, samurai, and Japanese chefs. That’s unexpected.

00:20 AM

The Finals shows Season 3, and Keighley talks about katanas. What’s that supposed to be?

00:18 AM

Contrary to expectations, Battle Aces is not a shooter, but rather real-time strategy and compares itself to giants like World of Warcraft and Hearthstone? That’s bold.

00:18 AM

Moving on to some strange, wild trailer with mechs, cannons, and rockets. Apparently, we are back to anime. Battle Aces is coming.

00:17 AM

Oh man, way too little Dune; more about it will come only at gamescom during Opening Night Live. What a pity! But the trailer, the blue eyes… balm for the ticker soul!

00:17 AM

The Fremen have been destroyed, no Lisan al Gaib, no Kwisatz Haderach… is the future at stake?

Paul seems to have a vision and knows what we need: Us!

00:16 AM

HELL YES! Paul Atreides, finally more about Dune: Awakening!

00:16 AM

Sonix X Shadow Generations is coming on October 25 for PS5, Switch, and Xbox.

00:15 AM

Sonix X Shadow Generations shows a new trailer and it looks exactly like what one would expect as a Sonic fan: hedgehogs, a lot of running around, golden rings, Mecha-Sonic, and many levels with jump & run.

A familiar game principle, but the chat seems to quite like what has been shown.

00:14 AM

Among Us is getting a TV series and it looks just as weird as the game. But quite interesting!

00:11 AM

Outersloth announces several indie games here directly. A card battler, a game on Mars, a shooter in space, two things I didn’t understand, and a game where you sit in a mech and cook food for others.
