Today, on Thursday, 09.06., the most important gaming event of the year takes place: the Summer Game Fest 2022 replaces what used to be the giant press conferences of E3. Joining us is the MeinMMO live ticker. We bring you all the news and important information about the trailer fireworks of the new games.
What kind of event is this?
- The journalist, host, and Doritos friend Geoff Keighley is known for his live events. He regularly hosts the Video Game Awards.
- Keighley, who was part of E3 himself in the past, has been presenting the “Summer Game Fest” since 2020: It is something like a “compressed E3 press conference.”
- The show is a trailer fireworks, with only a few minutes allocated per game, and the show lasts 90 minutes. Somewhere the games have to be introduced.

21:53: “The Last of Us” was the last segment. The show ends. June 2023 is expected to see the event return – probably directly against E3.

Creators of “Last of Us” are making a multiplayer game
21:51: The Last of Us is apparently getting the minutes that were saved during the indie quick run now, just like Call of Duty.
21:49: The remaster of Last of Us is shown, with many wondering why such a recent game needs a remaster: “Built from the ground up for the PS5” – so for the people who were able to buy a PS5.
21:42: Naughty Dog is making a multiplayer game. The game is supposed to be “very large” and made by many veterans from Uncharted and Last of Us. We are supposed to learn more in 2023. It is said to connect Naughty Dog’s storytelling with multiplayer.
There are still some warm words about how great the HBO series of “Last of Us” will be. The special gag is that the voice actors of the main characters from “The Last of Us” are also starring in the TV series: “No cameos – real roles.”
You can always tell that it is a pure PR show. Everyone has the best experiences. Everything is always something very special. And everyone is incredibly excited to be part of exactly the project they are currently promoting. This applies to The Rock, the game developers, and Troy Baker.
21:38: Gotham Knights is shown: A recorded message from Montreal comes in, which doesn’t really create a lot of excitement. The hero “Nightwing” is apparently something like Robin but cooler, the modern Batman sidekick.
This is the most important information about Gotham Knights:
- Gotham Knights is an action game where you take on the role of the famous superheroes from Gotham City.
- You can embark on the game in seamless co-op with up to 4 players. The co-op only works online. There is no split-screen.
- Investigate crimes and chase known supervillains like Mister Freeze.
21:37: “Layers of Fears” is getting its 2 minutes in the spotlight.
- A new psycho-horror game called Layers of Fear is coming in Unreal Engine 5 – it carries the creative title Layers of Fears.
- Layers of Fear is a psychedelic horror game in first-person, focusing on story and exploration.
- Layers of Fears is set to be released in early 2023.
21:35: I actually just want to see more of this fantasy-Destiny. Outriders!
21:33: The 90-minute mark has been crossed: Warhammer 40k: Vermintide is being shown. Even the show itself seems overwhelmed, not sending trailers fast enough – Keighley is overclocking too hard for its own infrastructure.
- In Darktide, you play co-op with a group of up to 4 players.
- You hack your way through the underworld of one of the massive hive cities of Warhammer 40K.
- Futuristic weapons, hordes of enemies, huge bosses, and even some psychic abilities are in focus.
21:33: The new game is sending watchdog vibes, but it is the new Saint’s Row. Loudly bizarre people walk especially cool somehow into nothing.

21:29: Nightingale. This is a game for us, so for MMO players, what has been heard so far. Oh dear, the game makes the typical mistake of actually explaining gameplay. That is not something one is used to at the Summer Game Fest.
Apparently, it is very important to make “Realm Cards.”
- Nightingale will be a new survival game in a Victorian fantasy world.
- The game focuses entirely on PvE and co-op, you play solo or with friends against wild fairy creatures.
- Crafting and building are central.
- Survive, build an entire city, and protect it from attacks.
21:28: It looks like “The Quarry” – annoying teenagers die gruesomely in an 80s style. Somehow “Cabin in The Woods – the game.” Supposedly extremely good – that’s what people are saying at least. But what does the street really know?
The most important points about The Quarry:
- The Quarry is an interactive horror game and the spiritual successor of Until Dawn.
- The release is tomorrow, on June 10, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
- You play from a third-person perspective and can control up to 9 different characters who must survive a night in Hackett’s Quarry.
Slaughter enemies to the music of System of a Down
21:24: In a new game, you are supposed to rhythmically slaughter enemies to music, accompanied by the growling of System of a Down. This is apparently called: Clearly tailored to a target audience.
The most important points about Metal: Hellsinger:
- Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm first-person shooter.
- Half human, half demon, and driven by revenge. You play as the nameless and fight your way through hell.
- Each track has been specifically composed for the game, and metal icons such as Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), and Tatiana Shmailyuk (Jinjer) have grabbed the microphone.
- The release of Metal: Hellsinger is in 2022.
21:22: A feature of the Summer Game Fest: It is impossible to distinguish between advertising and show. Right now, several games are being blasted through simultaneously – apparently ads for the Xbox Game Pass.
