Mortal Online 2 is considered one of the most unfair MMORPGs ever. The second part finally has a release date on Steam: in October you can get started, but only in Early Access for now. The team is deliberately opting out of a Free2Play model.
What kind of MMORPG is this? Mortal Online 2 is the successor to Mortal Online, a hardcore MMORPG released in 2010.
The MMORPG is set to be a “true sandbox experience.” You can roam, explore, and build in the world as you please, but you are always susceptible to attacks. There are no dedicated PvP zones, just an open world where anything is possible.
According to the development team, battles will not be decided by equipment but purely by skill. Whoever plays better wins. This aims to focus on realism and real-time combat. The main features include:
- Action combat in first-person perspective
- Close combat, ranged combat, magic, and even mounted combat
- No levels, but over 600 skills that are mostly increased by usage
- Full loot (you can be looted upon death)
- Crafting and an open economy between players
How unfair will it be? Due to the open world, Mortal Online 1 has always had the reputation of being a feast for gankers, players who specifically attack weaker ones. Apparently, Mortal Online 2 aims for a similarly open world.
However, it seems that they want to address the reputation of unfair PvP gameplay here. Those who kill other players without reason will be branded as murderers and will face disadvantages.
Still, you have to be careful where you log out. If you simply quit the game in the middle of the wilderness, your character will stay around for a while and can be killed. You are safe only in your homes or in inns.
Fans were able to take a first look at Mortal Online 2 in a closed beta in March 2021. Now there is a release for Early Access.
Mortal Online 2 coming in October – With Subscription Model
When and where can I play? Mortal Online 2 will be released on October 26 in Early Access on Steam (via Steam). A console version for PlayStation or Xbox is not planned; Mortal Online 2 will be available only for PC and currently only via Steam.
How do I join? You need to buy the game once and then pay a subscription if you want to play, similar to World of Warcraft.
All other content will be free, and there will be no cash shop or pay-to-win. However, a specific price is still pending.
Will you check out Mortal Online 2?
