Three employees of the New York subway secretly converted an old storage room into a so-called “Man Cave.” There, they drank beer, lazed around, and watched streams of Twitch star Tfue. But this has now cost them dearly.
What happened? Under the Grand Central subway platform in New York, three subway employees built a secret “Man Cave.” This refers to retreat spaces for men where they can still behave like “boys” and where the decoration can be chosen without interference from women.
Typical Man Caves are usually converted garages, parked construction trailers, or basement rooms. In this case, however, the three subway employees, all electricians and carpenters, made such clever use of an old storage room for their purposes that no one noticed.
Curiously, the room was not marked anywhere, and even the safety officer did not have a key to it. The room was essentially invisible and officially did not exist. Therefore, the three “boys” could lounge around, drink beer, and watch top streamer Tfue undisturbed. They had a refrigerator, a microwave, a flat-screen TV with a streaming box, as well as a fold-out sofa to lounge on.

The End of the Man Cave
This is how the Man Cave was found: The secret Man Cave in the subway shaft has been rumored among the staff of the New York subway for at least a year. There were also complaints from employees that other staff members were drinking and partying in the Man Cave during working hours without permission.
However, each of these inquiries into the matter came up empty. But the current investigation was successful, and inspectors discovered the secret room. Evidence included a partially consumed beer can. Additionally, the stream of top streamer Tfue was currently playing on the screen.
What happens now? The three employees responsible for the room have been suspended from duty for the time being. Investigations are still ongoing regarding how long the Man Cave has been used and whether they also used it specifically during working hours.
However, even if the room was only used during their free time, it poses a problem for the three employees:
- The equipment in the room was partly requisitioned without permission from the stocks of the New York subway operations
- The operation of the room was essentially paid for by customers of the New York subway
- The electrical wiring was said to be inadequate. Had a fire broken out, it would have been difficult to find and access the room that was not marked on any map and to which officially no one had a key.
The professional future of the three Man Cave residents looks bleak. Additionally, further investigations into such unauthorized retreat rooms in the subway are currently underway. It remains exciting to see what else will be discovered soon. A completely different form of “Man Cave” exists in the game Animal Crossing. There, players have ordered a real stripper to a virtual island.
