The release of Monster Hunter Wilds is just around the corner. Many fans are taking a few days off or suddenly feel “sick“ to go hunting. The studio behind Palworld anticipated this and announced special leave.
When is Monster Hunter Wilds released? Monster Hunter Wilds will open its doors on February 28, 2025, at 00:00 CET for consoles. At 06:00, PC players will also be able to join. By this time, fans have likely already taken time off to ensure they don’t miss the release.
However, there are also fans who suddenly fall ill and cannot show up for work. The studio behind Palworld anticipated this, and before its employees have to explain themselves, they now have special leave.
Special Leave to Prevent Illness
What did Palworld announce? On x.com, Palworld prepared an announcement stating: “For some reason, we have received reports from many employees that they might feel unwell tomorrow, so tomorrow has been designated as a special leave day.”
Monster Hunter Wilds was not specifically mentioned, but it is very likely that some fans of the series wanted to “sneak” that free day to enjoy the game. Therefore, to prevent anyone from being put on the spot, special leave is now provided.
Why is this not unusual? In the gaming industry, alongside competition, there is also mutual respect. Developers like to try other titles from the same genre for inspiration – like Rod Fergusson, the head of Diablo 4, with Path of Exile 2. However, there are also other studio heads who go so far as to delay the release of their own games to enjoy products from competitors.
The best example is Naoki Yoshida, the head of Final Fantasy 14. Out of respect for the release of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, he delayed the release of the then-upcoming expansion “Dawntrail” just so fans would have enough time to play both expansions (via Twitch).
