Streamer Alinity has repeatedly come under fire for her mean and rough treatment of her pets. All of this was always visible live in her streams on Twitch. Therefore, thousands are now demanding in a petition that she be banned from Twitch for life.
What happened? The Canadian streamer Alinity has almost 900,000 followers on Twitch and currently enjoys playing the battle royale shooter Apex Legends. She reacts quite harshly to disturbances, as her cat Milo unfortunately experienced. The kitten jumped on her table and likely interrupted her while playing.
Therefore, she quickly grabbed the animal and simply threw it behind her. Where the cat landed and how it was doing was not visible, and the streamer continued her stream unaffected.
This incident was not the first unpleasant action concerning animals. Previously, Alinity had also come under scrutiny. She thought it was a good idea to take a sip of vodka and encourage the cat to give her a “kiss.” The animal then ended up getting the liquor on her lips and reacted with great disgust and horror, while Alinity found it very funny.
Recently, an older video resurfaced in which Alinity kicks her dog live on stream after it had bothered the cat.
Community calls for a ban, streamer promises improvement
What are the consequences of the streamer’s behavior? Many people do not appreciate Alinity’s behavior. The animal welfare organization PETA has also intervened in the case.
She is accused of animal cruelty. Moreover, she is said to ruthlessly exploit her animals to spice up her streams. That she causes suffering and pain to the animals is something she accepts.
Therefore, more and more people are now demanding that Alinity completely disappear from Twitch. A corresponding petition on Change.org has already gained over 15,000 signatures (as of July 22, 2019). The petition’s demand: Twitch should intervene and permanently ban Alinity from streaming.
This is how Alinity responds: The streamer has now commented on the accusations of animal cruelty. She admits everything and says that it was wrong. She should not have thrown the cat, although she notes that it probably landed safely behind her. Alinity is not strong enough to actually throw the hefty cat far.
The incident with the vodka, however, was about a year ago and was really a very stupid idea that she apologizes for. She added, however, that her animals are loved and cared for by her.
Therefore, she can undergo any inspections and checks by authorities with a clear conscience. The animals are doing well, and there is no reason for concern.
What are the chances of success for the petition? According to the site Gamerant, the chances of success for the petition are rather slim. Twitch itself banned Dr. Disrespect, who broke applicable law with his infamous E3 bathroom stream, for only 2 weeks.
Thus, it is rather unlikely that Alinity will be banned for life. But perhaps Twitch will eventually react if the petition actually finds a very large number of signers and Twitch should come under significant pressure.
