The WoW streamer Asmongold apparently set out to test really absurd things in the beta of WoW Classic. He repeated an old phenomenon and dragged a dragon across Azeroth. There were also some collateral damages.
This is about the dragon: The streamer Asmongold summoned the elite dragon “Teremus the Devourer” from the Blasted Lands in the southeast of the Eastern Kingdoms during the beta of WoW Classic. Teremus is classified as a boss, meaning he deals particularly high damage and does not have a real level.

This is how the devastation occurred: Originally, Asmongold wanted to defeat Teremus with his raid of 40 people after they had just slain a green dragon together. However, that did not quite work out.
As a backup plan, he dragged the dragon through the Blasted Lands and other areas to Stormwind. His idea here was that the Alliance bosses Bolvar Fordragon or Archbishop Benedictus would kill the dragon.
However, when the group brought Teremus to the respective locations and even forced him to attack the two Alliance bosses with his breath of fire, they simply did nothing.
Instead, the dragon simply slaughtered guards and players in droves and rampaged in the city. The carnage resembles scenes from Game of Thrones. You can find the full video on Asmongold’s Twitch channel.
Asmongold then came up with the plan to make Teremus a problem for the Horde instead. They wanted to drag the dragon to Undercity, the capital of the undead in the north of the kingdoms.
How does this work?
In Classic, some enemies didn’t have a “leash” mechanic. They didn’t return to their original spot when you moved far enough away from them, but only reset once the fight was over. However, this is not a bug, but a feature.
With hunters and druids who can pull targets behind them quickly and reliably (“kite”), Teremus was eventually dragged across the world.
Similar trolling has been done before, back in original Vanilla WoW. The world boss Lord Kazzak and even Teremus himself were brought from their original spots to Stormwind to rampage there.
This is how the devastation ended
On the way to Undercity, Asmongold wondered if he should simply take Stormwind hostage. He would only let the dragon go again when he received 1000 gold pieces.
However, the group decided on Undercity, but was intercepted at the bridge in the Swamp by a Horde raid. Asmongold’s plan was to simply leave the dragon to the Horde, making it their problem.
This initially worked. However, in the midst of the fight, Teremus suddenly disappeared completely. The players speculated that either a “leash” had indeed been implemented or the developers simply removed the dragon from there.
How the community reacts
Asmongold has been criticized by many fans for a while now. Although he is very successful with his dungeon streams, many players want to see him banned.
They find his actions disruptive. A player complains in the forum about this action with the dragon. Some users see Asmongold as a disruptive factor in the beta.
However, most fans can’t understand this. On one hand, such things also happened in Classic – they are part of it. On the other hand, a beta is indeed meant to test such things and not just to play earlier than others.
During the first stress test, the developers did similar actions:
