The streamer Timothy Betar (34) is known as TimTheTatman. His rise began in 2018 when he became famous on Twitch in Ninja’s circle with Fortnite. In 2021, he switched to YouTube and was seen there repeatedly with DrDisrespect. What is happening there now is quite affecting the bear-like streamer.
Who is TimTheTatman?
- TimTheTatman became known as “the slap man” by Ninja in 2018, the good-natured, somewhat clueless “dad” who follows along with the hyper Ninja and is repeatedly yelled at and the target of a rage fit when he is supposedly incompetent or in some way
too slow
. - People loved watching the good-natured man suffer under the tyranny of the Red Bull-drinking smurf. You could easily identify with him when he was taken out by much younger hotheads in a CoD tournament and helplessly cried: “I’m a 30-year-old dad who’s going bald!”
- But in fact, TimTheTatman turned this image into a career and monetized his years on Twitch in 2021 when he switched to YouTube as a “family-friendly showcase streamer” for apparently a lot of money.
For years, he was the main character and TimTheTatman a side character in his story:
TimTheTatman appears distraught as he distances himself from DrDisrespect
This is what he says about DrDisrespect: Earlier on Twitch and later on YouTube, TimTheTatman liked to play with DrDisrespect and repeatedly suffered under his jokes and gags. The Ninja dynamic continued here as well:
- DrDisrespect played the tough, competent pro
- TimTheTatman the somewhat slower average guy who had to take the jabs
But both streamers were apparently good friends.
When the allegations against DrDisrespect became known and the Doc admitted to what he did, TimTheTatman was apparently hit hard.
In a Twitter clip, you can see him distraught and serious as he says he can no longer support DrDisrespect, his longtime friend. You can see him struggling with himself and how difficult it is for him:
In the end, I have to say: What he said about writing to a minor, which sometimes bordered on the inappropriate… if he knew she was a minor and these messages existed, then I cannot support that.
TimTheTatman thanks fans for their responses to his message
This is how he reacted when he returned live: It has been about a week since this message went live. TimTheTatman streamed again on YouTube after a break and spoke about the topic again.
In the current stream, he still seemed touched but noticeably more composed. He said it had been an absolutely insane week. The world is full of negativity.
He thanks for the many positive messages that reached him on the matter.
In all the trouble and excitement surrounding such a sensitive topic, TimTheTatman offers once again an oasis of comfort where people like each other. That has always been his role in the gaming world.
