The streamer Matthew “dellor” Vaughan was banned on Twitch for pulling a keyboard over his head. He then stated that he was depressed and expressed thoughts of suicide. Now he streamed on YouTube and was very successful there. In the meantime, he was the number one on the platform.
Who is dellor and why was he banned on Twitch? The former Overwatch professional dellor (31) is known for his strong shooter skills and lack of impulse control.
The shooter skills have often brought him great successes and big opportunities, which he then lost because he couldn’t control himself:
- In 2017, he was kicked out of his Overwatch professional team for making racist remarks
- In April 2019, he lost his partner status on Twitch and thereby all money-generating subscriptions. He received a ban for making sexist remarks: He told a female player in Apex Legends to make him a sandwich
- In July, he fought to get subscriptions back on Twitch – and was successful: On October 1, he was supposed to get them back if he can hold it together by then
- But on October 1, just when he was about to get subscriptions again, he was banned “indefinitely” from Twitch for breaking a keyboard over his head – which is considered “self-harm”. This is prohibited by Twitch’s rules.
dellor expresses suicidal thoughts, YouTube offers help
This happened after the ban: dellor felt the ban was unjustified. He said he constantly breaks keyboards on his head. Everyone knows that. It’s his trademark. He buys cheap keyboards just for that.
However, the ban for “self-harm” affected him deeply. Dellor said he has been depressed for months and expressed himself in a way that sounded like suicidal thoughts.
The 31-year-old then sought medical treatment.
Before that, the head of YouTube Gaming had offered him to talk about his career. That seemed to be a clear attempt to lure him onto YouTube Gaming.
This is what happened now: Apparently, dellor accepted this offer from YouTube and was live on YouTube for the first time.
There he had much more success than before on Twitch. At its peak, 20,000 people watched him and he was number one on the website.
Mother says: “You are a star”
This made him so happy that he screamed.
Previously, when he had 15,000 viewers, his mother called him in the stream (via neatclip). He told his mother how many were currently watching and that one shouldn’t worry too much.
His mother assured him that he was a star and that people loved him. It was Twitch’s fault for letting him go.
