YouTube has been luring larger streamers away from Twitch for some time. The streamer Moistcr1tikal said: “You will be shocked when you see who switches from Twitch to YouTube next”.
There will likely be several more influencers who are expected to turn their backs on Twitch.
Recently, huge gaming personalities like TimTheTatman or DrDisrespect have switched from Twitch to YouTube. Valkyrae was also part of it and now explains why this was a good decision.

Hofstetter became truly known on Twitch through the shooter Fortnite. When she then switched to YouTube, her channel initially faced difficulties – the great success was missing. However, with Among Us, she really took off and became the biggest gaming streamer in the world.
But what is it that Valkyrae appreciates so much about YouTube? Love. Hofstetter feels seen and taken seriously by YouTube.
The platform gives her a kind of representation that Twitch has never offered. YouTube wants to treat her well and work with her, Hofstetter says.
I feel valuable on YouTube. They make me feel important. That’s not really the case on Twitch. They have so many people in deals that you don’t get that feeling.

Although the switch was not easy and she worried about giving the impression that Hofstetter was leaving her community on Twitch behind – the one that had helped her achieve such reach.
However, the switch has paid off for Valkyrae. YouTube is not only working hand in hand with her, but it also seems to pay her really well. However, she does not mention money as an example for the switch to YouTube. Hofstetter always emphasizes how much she is valued by YouTube and how comprehensively they take care of her – that’s the main reason why stars might become happier on YouTube.
Her former Twitch colleague Ludwig has also decided to leave the Amazon live-streaming platform and switch to YouTube. He cites similar reasons as Valkyrae.
