If you want to play League of Legends like the pros, then only on a small monitor and with the worst graphics – at least that’s what a well-known LoL streamer says.
Who is this streamer? This statement comes from NoWay4u, also known as NoWay. He is one of the most successful Twitch streamers and a former LoL pro. NoWay was part of various teams in LoL e-sports for 8 years, but he gave up this career in 2020.
NoWay was recently asked during a stream how large his monitor is. After answering the question (it’s 24 inches by the way), he also explained why a monitor that is too large and fancy graphics can get in the way when playing at a high level. You can see the relevant clip in this YouTube video – it starts at second 21.
Too much empty space and clutter
What’s the problem with large monitors? According to NoWay, 24 inches is the maximum for LoL pros; the monitor should not be larger. The reason is quite simple: The larger the image, the harder it is to keep everything in sight.
The basic idea is, once your monitor exceeds a certain size, your eye has too much time to wander to gather and compress information. And every extra inch practically diminishes your performance and your ability to acquire information.

If a small monitor isn’t clear enough for you: Many pros would even play in windowed mode to keep a better overview. Furthermore, it’s important that you reduce your graphics settings as much as possible.
Why is worse graphics the better choice? An obvious advantage is better performance and thus a smoother game. In a competitive setting, you cannot afford any stuttering. However, “too pretty” graphics can also simply be distracting – anything above “lowest quality” is just clutter for the eyes, says NoWay.
Actually, NoWay is a really laid-back guy, but he even received an award for an outburst at the Streamer Awards 2024. You can find out the story behind it in this article: The presumably most relaxed Twitch streamer about LoL wins the award for the best outburst.
