The Twitch streamer Ironmouse breaks the record for the most subscribers by female streamers on Twitch. The twist? Unlike many other streamers, she hides her face behind a V-Tuber model. MeinMMO reports on how she accomplished this.
This is how Ironmouse’s streams run on Twitch:
- She usually watches videos recommended to her or selects them herself with her viewers. The V-Tuber reacts to the content of the videos.
- Additionally, she plays various games ranging from Apex Legends to Mario Kart to Resident Evil. Ironmouse has not committed to any specific game.
- The streamer averages 12,000 viewers.
- Ironmouse uses a V-Tuber model that represents a cute anime girl. She never shows herself or her body during the streams. It is even more astonishing that she is now the largest streamer on Twitch, as the prejudices against female streamers suggest something entirely different: Looking sexy, bare skin, and daring outfits attract viewers, nothing else.
Twitch streamer Ironmouse breaks Sub record
What record did she have to break? Previously, the streamer kkatamina set the sub record with around 73,600 subscribers. Ironmouse broke the record on the night of February 15 to 16, 2022.
How did she do it? Ironmouse is currently hosting an unlimited subathon that has earned her all the subs. So far, the streamer has about 75,650 subscribers and the subathon will continue for at least 18 more hours.
What is a subathon? A subathon is an event organized by the streamer in which viewers can give subs, donations, or bits to the streamer on Twitch. This extends a timer by a certain period that the streamer must stay live.
Ironmouse structures her subathon as follows: The marathon stream can be extended by 15 seconds in three ways:
- 1 Sub (equivalent to 3.99 Euros)
- 5 dollars
- 500 Bits (equivalent to 7.34 Euros)
The cheapest option is with a sub if you want to see the V-Tuber live longer.
Of course, the streamer also sleeps during such a marathon. Ironmouse even streams this, letting a repeat of the stream run in the background while her character lies asleep in a bed.
Ironmouse has the potential to surpass her male colleagues
Why could she even rise to the top? Only 2 other streamers are ahead of her on the list of the most subscribed Twitch channels: xQc and Casimito (via Twitch Tracker).
While xQc currently has 84,103 subscribers, Casimito has a total of 98,250 subscribers. Ironmouse is “only” 8,447 subs away from xQc, which doesn’t seem too unlikely since she still has at least 18 hours of streaming left.
She gains new subscribers every minute, which automatically extends the stream. So far, she has gained about 5,000 new subs per day. If the trend continues, she will only need 5 more days to surpass xQc and Casimito.
Whether that really happens remains to be seen.
