Over 10 years ago, the first part of the space strategy game Sins of a Solar Empire was released. This year, the sequel is set to be playable on Steam. A trailer shows what it looks like with new graphics.
When is the Steam release? There is no exact date for the release on Steam yet. The platform itself has announced the third quarter of 2024 as the release period. A trailer recently revealed that Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is expected to appear on Steam this summer. So, combined, you might be able to expect the game by late summer.
The trailer gives you a taste of the new graphics and gameplay of the sequel:
The game has actually been in Early Access on the Epic Store since the end of 2022. On Steam, it is only now being released in full.
What is Sins of a Solar Empire 2? Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is the sequel to a popular space strategy game. The original first part was already released in 2008. The game was released in three versions: Standard, Trinity, and Rebellion. The last version, Rebellion, was released in 2012.
On Steam itself, the game is described as a real-time 4X strategy game. While tactical massive battles with hundreds of spaceships remain the focus, diplomacy and empire management are said to have become more detailed and complex in the second part.
Above all, Sins of a Solar Empire 2 offers very extensive gameplay, so your rounds can last for many hours. Our colleagues at GameStar have already tested the strategy game in Early Access for you in 2022.
Sins of a Solar Empire 2 will focus on realism
Sins of a Solar Empire 2 stands out from its predecessor not only graphically. Especially in terms of realism, the developers want to take things to the next level. A believable galaxy is to be simulated. Suns and moons will orbit their planets. The distances created by these rotations are said to actually have an impact on gameplay.
Your ships will continue to move on a 2D plane, rather than being able to move freely in three-dimensional space.
There is reportedly no single-player campaign. Instead, the game is expected to offer only sandbox gameplay in skirmish and multiplayer modes. However, the background story is based on the predecessor, and players will once again take control of the three factions: TEC, Advent, and Vasari.
