Stellar Blade is a new, exclusive action game for the PS5. However, the title does one thing better than many other games. While other games are technically mixed, developer Shift Up delivers a technically flawless title.
PC gamers have had little joy with new releases for several months now. As soon as a title is officially released for PC, the same problems always arise, causing many to shake their heads:
- 2023 started with Star Wars: Jedi Survivor technically disastrous on Steam, and players are still complaining about the poor performance today.
- The PC release of Last of Us was a bug fest with many technical issues.
- Hogwarts: Legacy also launched on PC with technical annoyances, and the game is still barely playable smoothly on the Switch.
- Cities: Skylines 2 launched in October 2023 and the developers had already warned about the poor technical state before the release.
- Dragon’s Dogma 2 struggled with technical problems and severe frame drops at release.
This list of technical problems and broken games could go on indefinitely for 2023 and 2024. The fact is: PC gamers have been frustrated for months with weak PC releases. It’s no wonder that users are warning of a release on reddit and other platforms, saying:
- First, wait to see if the game works perfectly technically.
- It’s better not to pay 80 euros for a title that the developer hasn’t optimized and that runs terribly on a gaming PC.
And from this perspective, Stellar Blade is a commendable exception, as the game runs technically excellently.
You can convince yourself of Stellar Blade with a trailer:
Stellar Blade is an excellent example of brilliant performance
What makes Stellar Blade different? Unlike games like Star Wars: Jedi Survivor or Dragon’s Dogma 2, Stellar Blade is a game that is perfectly optimized. Stellar Blade runs smoothly on the PS5 without crashes or sudden frame drops.
The colleagues from “Digital Foundry” also explain how impressive this little technical masterpiece really is: The English-language YouTube channel specializes in game engines and hardware and therefore tests games mainly on a technical level. We embed the English-language video here for you:
In their video on YouTube, they explain that they have hardly seen a game that uses Unreal Engine 4 and runs so smoothly and flawlessly. The game not only looks great but also offers strong performance and is absolutely free of errors.
The MeinMMO editorial team has played: In the MeinMMO editorial team, we have also played the game extensively. Our tech editor Benedikt has now spent nearly 20 hours in Shift Up’s action game and believes: Technically, one of the most successful and best games of recent years is being presented here. And you can’t say that about many other releases in recent months. Gameplay-wise, you also get a lot of variety.
Benedikt, who plays on the PS5 with open headphones, also has no sound issues. Such problems are reported by Cortyn, whose article we have embedded for you further down.
