A new DLC for the strategy game Old World has been released on Steam, focusing on life behind your throne. You can learn more about it here on MeinMMO.
Which DLC is this about? On May 28, 2024, the DLC “Behind the Throne” was released on Steam for the strategy game Old World. As the name suggests, it centers around life behind your throne at the royal court.
Here, you can expect new challenges and gameplay mechanics filled with intrigue, rivalry, and political power. You can catch a first glimpse of the new content in the trailer:
What new events can you expect? According to the official description on Steam, more than 350 new events are promised. These will revolve around politics at the court and demonstrate that life behind the throne is a complex system filled with intrigue and deception. You can expect many characters with personal goals and ambitions and equally many possibilities.
Additionally, several new historical figures will be introduced through the DLC:
- Alcibiades: Statesman of Athens and notorious political opportunist
- Enlil-nādin-šumi: Usurper of the Babylonian throne
- Harpagos: Kingmaker of Akkad
- Bardesanes: Assyrian scientist, scholar, and philosopher
- Mago the writer: Carthaginian author of works on agriculture
- Avicenna: Famous Persian philosopher
What else is new? The DLC also offers new expansions and gameplay mechanics that can bring you both success and defeat.
Lands and slums can enhance your success
You can build lands and use their opulence to generate victory points with your wealth. Conversely, you can also establish slums, which may quickly increase the population but also heighten the risk of rebellions.
Additionally, you can expect four new gameplay mechanics: Rising Stars, Stress and Pleasure, The Grand Vizier, and New Political Eras. Here, powerful characters await you who are not heads of state but can be dangerous, jealous lovers, pillaging barbarians, or civil wars and thorough reforms.
The Grand Vizier gives you the opportunity to delegate tasks, so you don’t have to manage the entire city administration yourself. You decide which tasks each vizier should focus on, and you must consider, for example, that bold viziers can recruit military units more quickly. However, you should keep an eye on them to ensure that this power does not go to their heads. Another strategy game also received a new DLC: Total War: The new Warhammer DLC is simply perfect – I even have to completely drop Manor Lords
