What does Steam say about refunds? Angry players who are now turning to Steam to request refunds report in community discussions on the platform as well as on Reddit about their current knowledge regarding this topic.
According to Hokagefall on Steam, they contacted support to request a refund, and received the following message:

I understand the problem. Please note that we are investigating this matter further. As soon as we have more information, we will update your ticket.
Since another user received a similar response from Steam support, these reports seem credible.
The community therefore recommends all players who also wish for a refund for Ashes of Creation to also submit a ticket.
How did this situation arise? In addition to Sharif’s resignation, mass layoffs ensured that a large part of the management team left the studio as well. No CEO, no management team, and missing developers who have previously worked on the project suggest a bleak future for Ashes of Creation.
Just a few weeks ago, the former studio head expressed reassuring words that there was no fear of an end to Ashes of Creation with the first layoff of 9 people. In his last message on the official Discord server for the game, which includes his resignation, he can no longer make these statements. Further details he cannot “responsibly comment on at this time due to ongoing legal and administrative matters.”
