A player of Valve’s tactical shooter CS:GO found eight-year-old items in his Steam inventory that should bring him a small fortune when sold.
CS:GO has been the undisputed shooter king on Steam for years and continues to thrill countless fans even years after its release. But like in any game, there are also players in CS:GO who actively played the shooter a few years ago but have not logged in for a long time.
One of these former CS:GO players is now almost a small fortune richer, as he discovered content in his Steam inventory that he managed to sell for a total of €408,327. The player’s sold items include four holographic “Katowice 2014” stickers – three from the team “Titan” and one from “iBuyPower”.
Eight-year-old stickers fetch high value
How did the sale come about? With the announcement of Counter-Strike 2, the successor to CS:GO, a new hype around the long-traded skins of the shooter emerged, which collectors took advantage of to cash in big again.
Especially special holographic team stickers from the “2014 Katowice ESL Majors” regularly fetch a particularly high price when sold, as some of the teams, including Titan and iBuyPower, are no longer represented in CS:GO.
However, since the player did not know the value of his Steam inventory, he turned to an intermediary who was supposed to help him determine the selling price and sell the items.
The intermediary was the content creator and CS:GO skin expert “TDM_Heyzeus/ TDM_Jesus”, who shared the story on Twitter after the sale. The player himself, however, asked him to remain anonymous.

Since such a high amount was achieved with the sale, according to TDM_Heyzeus, tax lawyers were also involved in the deal (via Twitter). In addition, Heyzeus took a commission of 1% as the intermediary.
What is the deal with skins in CS:GO? Skins in CS:GO have a different value than in most other games. They are not just there to decorate weapons and give them a nicer design. They are also collectible and tradable items.
Skins, stickers, and knives that you own in CS:GO can be sold to other players. Since some of these items are both rare and in demand, collectors willingly pay high prices for them.
Additionally, many players in CS:GO spend substantial amounts to open crates. In doing so, they hope to obtain a valuable skin for their collection or possible resale.
