Today, on July 25, Remnant 2 is released on Steam. A player solved a puzzle in the role-playing game by patiently waiting and was rewarded with the special weapon ‘Meridian’. However, it was actually a waste of time.
- Remnant 2 is the sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes. You play as a hero who travels through worlds to defeat an evil entity called ‘The Seed.’
- At its core, the game is a Soulslike with tough bosses, classes, and skills, but it features firearms instead of just swords and similar.
- For a short time, the coop shooter CS:GO was dethroned from the 1st place on Steam in the USA – even before its actual release.
On July 24, a player showed on Reddit how he was able to obtain the special weapon ‘Meridian’. He waited for 90 minutes in a room, but it turns out it wasn’t necessary at all.
“This is such a waste of time.”
What was the player waiting for? On July 24, the user “Deiser” wrote on Reddit that he obtained the ‘Meridian’ after waiting an hour and a half for a room to fill with water. This allowed him to walk on wooden planks on the water’s surface and reach a platform.
On the platform, he found a corpse and the weapon ‘Meridian’ – a grenade launcher that can be converted into a rocket launcher with a mod (via Reddit).
How do other players react to this? The user Oghier writes: “It continues to fill, even when you die or explore other areas in Lonsomm. I wandered around for at least two hours […]. When I returned, the room was filled with water and I was able to collect the grenade launcher.” (via Reddit).
The user feelin_fine_ writes: “Holy sh… This is such a waste of time.” (via Reddit). Deiser replies: “I was too afraid to leave the area and waste my time.”
How did he come up with the idea? In one location in Remnant 2, Deiser discovered a hostile slime that was blocking a pipe. The player shot this, causing water to flow from the pipe and gradually fill the room. Two wooden planks floated on the water.
His idea was that the slime surely wasn’t just placed there randomly. Also, it wasn’t part of a quest in Remnant 2. As the water flowed from the pipe, Deiser stopped the timer and ultimately waited for 90 minutes.
Instead, he could have explored the world, defeated bosses, tackled dungeons, or, as MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus mistakenly did, wiped out an entire species:
I played a new coop game on Steam before release and spent my entire free day on it
