A player built the world of the cult MMORPG RuneScape as a real planet. He presented the result on reddit.
Old School RuneScape is now one of the absolute classics among MMORPGs. Although the first version of the game was released on January 4, 2001, the game still enjoys an active fan community. The game is currently even more popular than it was 10 years ago.
A fan recently showed on reddit what the world of RuneScape would look like as a real planet. The community reacted positively and is discussing the implementation.

The Reddit user u/_adun posted on April 15, 2023, with the title “What RuneScape would look like as a planet,” his own version of the RuneScape world, transforming the pixelated world into a realistic planet viewed from space.

Clearly recognizable are the different areas, with their various colors. For example, the desert region “Kharidian Desert” can be seen in the lower right or the dark-colored “Wilderness” at the top.
Quite prominently displayed in the dark green area, you can also see the “Varrock Castle” with its gray buildings on the upper right.
How does the community react? The reddit users reward the creativity of the user with 3541 upvotes (as of April 16, 2023). In the comments, they discuss the implementation of the map, and many joke about the size of different areas:
User reyees notes, for example: “Varrock Castle is as big as Germany.” To which Baardi replies: “No, it’s just a very small planet.”
- Phazonid comments: “Great picture, but considering that the northern islands are icy and the southern islands are tropical, that would mean the countries we see are only the northern hemisphere.”
