In the Steam Summer Sale 2019, the Grand Prix game is currently running. There you can win a game from your wishlist. Valve recognized that the rules were confusing and clarified them.
This is the problem: In the Steam Summer Sale 2019, there is currently the “Grand Prix”. You participate in a kind of race. If at the end you are in the winning team and have some luck, Valve gifts you a game that is on your wishlist.
However, many users struggled with the rules. Everything was a bit cryptic and hard to understand. How one could win and have any influence on it was unclear to many.
Valve noticed this and wrote a blog post about it. It discusses the changes that have been implemented and explains which game on the wishlist will be gifted.
This is now better: In the blog, Valve states that they received feedback regarding the complexity of the Steam Grand Prix action. They introduced the following changes:
- The track pusher and the driving instructions have been improved to clarify the rules
- Backend changes ensure that Team Corgi does not constantly stay in the lead
- Code changes create more balanced teams
- With a new item, you can now steal boosts and add them to your own team
How does the game work? In short, you join a team and try, together with all the other players in that team, to win the daily race. Valve then randomly selects members of the winning team to gift them a game. This game comes from the Steam wishlist of the chosen player.
Which game from the Steam wishlist is gifted at the Grand Prix?
This game will be chosen: In the blog, Valve writes which game from a wishlist is considered. Always the top one.
If you are in the winning team of the day and Valve randomly selects to gift you a game, it will be the game that is in the first position of your Steam wishlist.
If you have a specific game in mind that you want to be gifted, you need to move it to the top position on your wishlist.

Previously, players speculated that Valve would randomly choose one of the wishlist games and therefore deleted all except one game from that list. But that is unnecessary.
