Steam: A role-playing game that fans have been waiting for 20 years shows its open world

For 20 years, fans have been waiting for a new installment of “Baldur’s Gate.” Now, the developers have given some insights into the open world.

What kind of game is this? Baldur’s Gate 3 is the latest game in the video game series “Baldur’s Gate,” which was created in the 90s and is set in the eponymous city. Additionally, it is a spin-off of the famous role-playing game “Dungeons and Dragons.”

The release of Baldur’s Gate 3 is on August 31, 2023. The game is being developed by Larian Studios and will be released on PS5 and PC via Steam.

The turn-based role-playing game uses an isometric perspective and also offers a co-op mode where you can play together with up to three friends.

Already in 2021, Baldur’s Gate 3 was among the top sellers on Steam, even though it hadn’t been released at that time and was only playable in early access.

The City of Baldur’s Gate Appears as a “Seamless Organism”

What has been shown about the open world? The developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 talked in a new video about the development of the city. Images of the famous city were also shown.

The developers described the city in the video as a “large, seamless organism” that is now much larger than in the 90s and one that you can immerse yourself in. For instance, you can look down the slopes of the city and see the docks.

In addition, each person in the city is supposed to bring their own story, and it should be possible to talk to almost everyone. In general, the city should feel alive and give the impression that it is a place where people go about their everyday lives.
