Original Message: What’s happening in Warzone? The Battle Royale of Call of Duty is just about to enter its 5th season alongside Black Ops Cold War and brings a significant amount of new features to the game. MeinMMO shows you in this brief news what Season 5 brings in Warzone.
When does Season 5 start? On Friday, August 13, the new Season will start. The update and the content will likely go live at 6 AM. Here you will find the roadmap and a deeper insight into the upcoming content. You can watch the trailer here:
Warzone: Confirmed Content in Season 5

What new locations are coming in Season 5? The new locations are “Mobile Transmission Stations” that will be in a different place in each match. There is hot loot, and apparently the stations send a signal to other teams when you use them.
What about the new Battle Pass and the new weapons? Like every season, you can unlock a new Battle Pass with 100 levels. Included are 2 new weapons – the MP TEC-9 and the assault rifle EM2. Right at the start of the season, there will also be a walking cane as a new melee weapon, and later the Marshal pistol will be added. A trailer for the Battle Pass is already circulating:
What about the new perks in Warzone? For the first time, Warzone will have its own perks:
- Combat Scout – Hit enemies are marked
- Hardened – You only need 2 armor plates for full armor

What does the new Gulag look like? The new Gulag is inspired by the map “Rush”. Unlike the current Hijacked Gulag, the Rush version is expected to be more open, with scattered cover elements throughout the map.
What is this event about? A new live event called “The Numbers” starts during the mid-season. Through the event, CoD is advancing the background story, but not much is known about it yet. The new mobile transmission stations and the Red Doors definitely have something to do with it. You will likely be able to earn thematic cosmetics again.
What is this new mode? “Collision” is an evolution of the Rumble mode of Warzone. 50vs50 players are hunting for points to win, and the playing field is a random and enclosed area on the large map Verdansk. Unlike Rumble, Collision is supposed to feature more mechanics of the standard Battle Royale. Ping system, contracts, buy stations, vehicles – everything is activated and is meant to make Collision a team deathmatch with a Battle Royale feel.

What about the new CoD? Almost exactly a year ago in August 2020, the hunt for the reveal trailer of Black Ops Cold War began. Content creators received mysterious boxes mailed to them, and after a week full of Easter eggs and puzzles in the style of the 80s, the developers presented the first real trailer in Battle Royale through a live event in Warzone.
For Season 5, some leakers from the CoD community expect something similar. A tweet is circulating on Twitter that claims the reveal of the new CoD is set for August 19. The tweet has since been taken down, and there was no source to the information. Nevertheless, the information stirred up a lot of dust:
What is this Next-Gen upgrade? Also unconfirmed is the upgrade of Warzone to the technical level of the PS5 and Xbox Series. Following the discovery by a player, this rumor came to the forefront, and even an Activision employee reacted to the “leak”.
