Games like Starfield invite exploration and discovery. That one could find loot even in the restroom – a streamer probably didn’t expect that.
On X, formerly Twitter, the Twitch streamer “Blurbs” shows in a video clip how his game character stands in a toilet in Starfield. When he struggles to open the toilet seat, he is surprised to find a useful item.
Actually, you cannot open the toilets in Starfield at all.
Besides useful items, Starfield also offers numerous helpful skills:
In Starfield, you open toilets with towels, totally logical
What does the video clip show? On X (formerly Twitter), Blurbs posted a video on September 7, writing: “My biggest discovery in Starfield so far.” His game character accidentally opens the toilet in front of him by pushing a corpse against the toilet seat.
Then, Blurbs says: “Wait a minute. Can you open the toilets?” He then looks for an object to open the lid. With a folded towel, he lifts the toilet seat and discovers a medpack in the toilet.
He reacts visibly surprised:
Oh my God, there’s a medpack. In the toilet that you can’t open manually. This changes everything.
Then he is surprised again, because: when he opens the toilet seat once more, a new medpack has spawned.
Here you can see the 46-second video:
Why does this change everything? Loot can be found in such games at almost every corner. Some players go through RPGs, especially in open-world games, very thoroughly when looting. They sweep through places, search even the smallest rooms, climb rocks, and scan every dark corner.
While players certainly enter the occasional toilet to loot, they probably won’t lift every toilet seat to see if valuable loot is hidden there – especially since you actually cannot open the toilets in Starfield.
Other players don’t mess around with toilet lids, but rather with nasty NPCs.
The video and Blurbs’ experience show that a second look can definitely be worthwhile. Whether you want to go through the effort for a medpack – or a similar item – is up to you.
In the comments, Blurbs is asked how he manages to hold and move objects in front of him. You have to hold the “Use” button longer, with which you would normally pick up items.
With this mechanic, you can also become master thieves in Starfield if you move the right objects:
So indeed: Buckets make you master thieves in Starfield – but a little different than in Skyrim
