In Starfield you can randomly find contraband during your journey. Although these precious items yield a lot of credits, it is harder to get rid of them. We show you a safe way to sell your contraband.
What is contraband? In Starfield, you can randomly find contraband almost anywhere in bases, planets, and alien spaceships. This includes:
- colored suitcases
- stolen goods
- artifacts
- and much more
Any item that has a yellow symbol next to its name is contraband and can be sold for high sums to various merchants. As easy as it may sound, it is not straightforward.

However, there is one problem, and that is the guards of the respective system. If present, they scan your ship and cargo bay for contraband. If they catch you without proper protection, they will arrest you and penalties will follow.
To avoid these troubles, we have found a merchant for you, without annoying guards and scans.
In our video, you will find 5 useful skills for Starfield that you should choose:
How to sell your contraband easily
Where can I sell my contraband? To sell your contraband, head to the Wolf system, located east of the Sol system.
In this system, you will find a red sun, two planets, one moon, and a space station. Now, make your way near the “Chthonia” planet, as there is a space station orbiting the celestial body.

Now fly to the space station “The Build” and dock. Once docked, walk straight through and keep left until you see a store labeled “Trade Authority”. There you can sell your goods for quick credits without any problems.
You can also visit other Trade Authorities in systems, but be aware that you might get scanned upon approach. In that case, it is worthwhile to be a member of the Crimson Fleet. If you are a member, you can visit the Kryx system and equip your ship with jammers and secure cargo holds.
Keep in mind that even with jammers, you only increase your chances of not getting caught. Therefore, always save your game before approaching a system.
If you now have a lot of contraband but your merchant is broke, there is a way to replenish his credits.
This is how your merchant gets his money back: If you sell too much, your merchant will go broke and have no credits left to offer you in exchange for your goods. In this case, you can wait 24-48 hours with your character. Sit somewhere or lie down in a bed and fast forward time.
After this time, the merchant’s credits will refill, which you can then exchange for your goods.
