In the new update for Starfield, Bethesda has finally incorporated the option to change the field of view via a FOV slider. However, that is not enough for the community. Players are demanding significantly more QoL changes to make the gaming experience smoother and more comfortable should.
The release of Starfield was some time ago. Bethesda provides some improvements for their space role-playing game with each new update. However, fans are not completely satisfied. They want more features and additional settings to customize the gameplay to their desires.
Bethesda introduces a feature that has been available via mod for some time
What’s in the new patch? With update 1.7.36, Starfield has been enhanced with a FOV slider in the graphics options. Now you can officially adjust the field of view in first-person and third-person perspectives. Players on PC and Xbox Series X|S can use the feature.
Additionally, there are further stability and performance improvements. The Intel Arc graphics cards are particularly mentioned with improved stability.
A change has also been made in the faction quest “Echoes of the Past.” An issue was resolved where tunnel creatures could select a location that could hinder your quest progress.
Why are players still unhappy with the update? The ability to change the field of view via the FOV slider was already introduced into the game weeks ago by the community itself.
On PC, one could adjust the value to their liking through an additional created ini file. Shortly thereafter, it could also be easily changed through corresponding mods. At least console players on Xbox Series X|S can now enjoy a larger field of view after a long wait.
What does Starfield still lack? The update is definitely heading in the right direction. However, fans have more wishes to further enhance the gaming comfort. This includes support for 32:9 ultra-wide monitors and the official integration of Nvidia DLSS.
Until then, you can achieve more FPS in Starfield with the best graphics settings on PC.
Fans are also demanding an option to quit the game directly through the in-game menu and a revised map with better clarity.
Whether and when Bethesda will respond to these requests remains uncertain. Until Starfield has been expanded with these QoL features, you can at least rely on the vast array of available mods from the community.
