Microsoft and Bethesda will jointly hold a press conference at E3 2021 to present some games. At least three major titles are highly likely, but there may also be one or two surprises. Find out here what the show on Sunday is expected to bring will.
This year, Microsoft and Bethesda will jointly present new games and information at E3. Both shows have previously been highlights at their fairs. And since Microsoft has purchased Bethesda, the conference is expected to be even more interesting this year.
Both companies have huge franchises in their portfolio, such as the Halo series, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, or Age of Empires. So far, there is no concrete information about what will be announced at E3, but the hints about specific games are becoming more frequent.
Starfield, Halo, and Forza – The big announcements
These are the potential highlights: Starfield is the big new RPG from Bethesda and has been announced since 2018. After the first trailer is already three years old, the development should be advanced enough to announce a release in 2021. Starfield is also one of the hottest rumors of E3 2021.
For Halo Infinite, it is already known that it is supposed to be released this year, only a date is missing. Since the Halo series is extremely popular and players have been waiting for new content since 2018, Halo will definitely be one of the highlights of the press conference.
The third major announcement currently rumored is Forza Horizon 5, the new installment in the popular racing game series. However, since there is no information about the game yet, we only expect an announcement that it is coming, and perhaps a trailer—not with information about a release or even gameplay.
How likely is that? At least Halo and Starfield are more or less confirmed and teased by Microsoft itself. In the image announcing the show, both Master Chief from Halo and the Starfield logo can be seen, indicating the announcement of both games or at least more information.
Forza had its last installment in 2018 with Forza Horizon 4, and the series is among the most popular racing games ever. Since Microsoft has not released anything in a while, the chances are good that racing fans will also receive new content.
By the way: Bethesda surprised and delighted many fans in 2015 with Fallout 4. The game was released in the same year as its announcement. If the developers attempt something like that again, Starfield could still release in 2021.
Wolfenstein, DOOM, and more – What else is coming?
These are more possible games: Since both Microsoft and Bethesda own numerous franchises for which a new installment could be released, further smaller announcements are also possible.
Wolfenstein was last supplied in 2019 with Youngblood, a co-op spin-off of the series. However, the last “real” part of the series was released in 2017 with New Colossus. E3 could hold something for all fans of the series.
DOOM received its latest successful installment, Eternal , only in 2020 but has since been fed with DLCs. After the DLC “The Ancient Gods – Part Two” concluded the story, there could also be new information here, perhaps about a new DLC or expansion. Possible announcements also include:
- the release date for Age of Empires 4, which is supposed to be released in the fall
- Psychonauts 2, which is also supposed to come in 2021, but has already been postponed twice
- Hello Blade 2, one of the exclusive games for the new Xbox Series X and PC
- Fallout: New Vegas 2, now that both Bethesda and Obsidian belong to Microsoft
In contrast, unlikely are The Elder Scrolls 6, which is still in development, and the new Indiana Jones game, which just started in early 2021. There may be short updates, although E3 is generally used for big announcements.
When and where can I watch? The press conference will take place on Sunday, June 13, at 7:00 PM German time. How long the presentation will last is still unknown—but probably about an hour or a little longer. The conferences of recent years have lasted that long.
