In Starfield, you can create your character at the beginning and shape it according to your wishes. The problem here is, however, that you might quickly give one of the most important things in the game the wrong attention. We will show you what traits are and what to look out for.
What do I need to pay attention to? After you have completed the introductory mission, you can create your character. This can, in addition to detailed facial features and proportions, also receive a backstory and traits.
While you must choose a background during creation, traits are purely optional. Nevertheless, they also have advantages that can positively affect your journeys. The problem, however, is that these traits also come with a negative effect – you are dealing with a double-edged sword here.

4 Traits Worth Having
What you need to know: In total, you have 17 traits to choose from. When making your choice, you must keep in mind that you cannot activate every trait. Some traits exclude each other. The best example here is “Introverted” and “Extroverted”. You cannot have both; you can either take the first or the second.
There are also traits related to factions and religions that ensure you gain advantages and disadvantages as well as new dialogue options. Now let’s move on to the traits that could be worth having.

Terra Firma
What does this trait do? This trait gives you more health and oxygen when you are on planets, but reduces the same when you are in space. Since you will explore a lot of different planets, it is a useful investment.
Empath
What does this trait do? This trait makes you very empathetic and gives your companions a temporary boost in combat efficiency when you do things they like. The exact opposite happens when you do things they don’t like.
Taskmaster
What does this trait do? If you have a trained crew on your ship, it will automatically repair itself when its condition drops below 50%. However, you also need to pay double for your crew when you want to hire them.
Hero Worshipped
What does this trait do? You will receive the attention of a fan who will join your crew. He will chatter away, but also shower you with gifts. Useful if you have a small crew at the beginning.
These were all the traits that could be worth having at the beginning. Keep in mind that you don’t have to select any traits at all. You can also start blank and don’t have to burden yourself with unnecessary difficulties. Nevertheless, some of the traits offer certain advantages that outweigh their negative effects.
