A former Bethesda developer revealed in an interview with PCGamesN details about Starfield, the upcoming RPG from the “Fallout 76” studio. According to him, the game is supposed to be enormous; correspondingly, the development team behind Starfield is also quite large.
What kind of game will Starfield be? Starfield is a futuristic RPG from Bethesda. The studio is mainly known for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. Players can create an avatar in Starfield and explore the world around them.
You can build your own spaceship and engage in space battles. There are also supposed to be survival elements. The release is announced for the first half of 2023.
The former Bethesda developer Nate Purkeypile spoke in an interview with PCGamesN about the upcoming RPG from the studio and provided some clues about the enormous size of the project.
According to the website of his own game studio, Nate Purkeypile was involved in Starfield as a Lead Lighting Artist and Senior World Artist (via justpurkeygames.com).

How big will Starfield be? Already during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcases 2022, Todd Howard, the head of Bethesda, revealed: Starfield contains 100 systems with 1000 planets on which players can land. This provided an initial hint of the gigantic RPG the studio is planning.
In the interview with PCGamesN, it is stated: “As for the size of Starfield, according to Purkeypile, it is not only the largest game Bethesda has ever made, but also the one that required the largest team.”
How big is the team behind Starfield? Nate Purkeypile reveals in the interview that the upcoming RPG from Bethesda also requires completely new team sizes.
“Starfield is a much bigger project, there are about 500 people on the team, whereas I believe it was at most 200 for [Fallout] 76” (via PCGamesN).
However, the enormous size of the Starfield development team was also one of the reasons for Nate Purkeypile to leave Bethesda and found his own studio called “Just Purkey Games”.
Will Starfield have a multiplayer mode? Starfield will not have multiplayer but is announced as a purely single-player game.
For which platforms will Starfield be released? The game is set to be released for PC and Xbox Series X/S. However, it looks bad for PlayStation players. There will be no release of the game on PS4 and PS5.
