In Starfield, nothing is free. Whether you visit a merchant, upgrade your gear, or get a facelift – you need money, called credits, for everything. We show you 4 options on how to quickly and easily earn money.
What are credits? In Starfield, there is an official currency – credits. With this payment method, you can shop at various stores and merchants. At the beginning of your journey, you start as a poor space traveler and need to build your fortune yourself. Many prefer to use exploits or cheats to instantly start with a lot of cash.
However, if you want to build a fortune through honest work, we now show you 4 ways on how to do that.
How to quickly earn money in Starfield
1. Build a plutonium farm
What do I need to do? The YouTuber “The Starfield Merchant” points out a practical method to quickly make over 154,000 credits per hour by establishing a plutonium farm on the moon “Porrima IV-d” in the Porrima system.
The Starfield Merchant shows you in his video exactly what you need to do and build:
For now, however, you should visit the city “Neon” in the Volii system on Volii-Alpha. There you will find a store that sells many useful materials for your base construction. Buy these, build your farm, and then sell your plutonium to the same merchant.
2. Steal and sell ships
What do I need to do? While you are traveling through the dark universe, you might be attacked by pirates or other hostile factions. In this case, you can disable the engines of the enemy ships, dock to the ship, eliminate the remaining crew, and claim the ship as your own.
Now you can land at a spaceport and register your ship. Afterwards, find a ship technician and you can sell one of your fairly earned ships to him.
For your journeys, you should also own a strong ship. We show you where you can find one at the beginning:
3. Sell smuggled goods
What do I need to do? Did you find strange items with a yellow symbol? Then you’re in luck, as your find consists of precious smuggled goods. You can randomly find these items during your travels in various locations in Starfield. As valuable as they may be, they are still illegal and can be confiscated by many authorities from different systems.
To avoid this happening to you, we explained in our guide how you can sell smuggled goods without problems.
So if you get a hold of smuggled goods, make sure to sell them to the nearest interested merchant. You will notice how valuable they are.
4. Complete missions for factions
What do I need to do? Once you reach a place where certain factions are more dominant, you can accept and complete missions from them. Depending on how much effort these missions require, you will be rewarded with more or less credits. Either way, these missions are worth it, as you can complete them alongside your travels.
How to earn credits dishonestly: While Xbox players must rely on exploits to get a lot of credits at once, PC players have it easier. Console commands are the key, as anyone who is making their way through Starfield on PC can simply input a command to get any amount of credits they desire.
Press the (~) key. Your game will pause and a window will open. You will be warned that using cheats will disable achievements. Dismiss the warning and enter the following code:
- player.additem 0000000f [#]
- In the [#] brackets, enter your desired amount of credits
Confirm your command and enjoy your enormous sum of credits.
