The Star Wars spin-off Rogue One will be in theaters in just a few weeks, and the new trailer for the dark rebel spectacle promises a great cinematic experience. We also see in the trailer the new planet Scarif, which will play a role in the upcoming Battlefront DLC.
This year, there won’t be a new episode of the Star Wars main saga, but we can look forward to the spin-off film Rogue One in December. This dark mix of a war film and a “heist movie” revolves around the young rebel Jyn Erso, who is searching for her father Galen, who is involved in the development of the Death Star. Not only new faces appear in the trailer, but also the most famous Star Wars villain of all time makes an appearance: Darth Vader!
Battlefront is also included
For fans of the online shooter Star Wars: Battlefront, there is also a sneak peek at the upcoming DLC “Scarif“. This is a tropical planet where the rebels from the Rogue One team face off against AT-AT walkers of the Empire. Scenes like these could just as well come from Battlefront, and both Jyn and the new imperial villain Director Krennic are expected to be playable as new heroes.
Star Wars: Rogue One will be released on December 15 in German cinemas. The Scarif DLC for Star Wars: Battlefront is also available this month, but an exact date is not yet known. Owners of the season pass will receive the expansion for free.
What do you think of the final trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One? Does the new format of a dark war drama/heist movie fit the far, far away galaxy of Star Wars? Or do you think Disney should focus more on the main series and stop such experiments? Personally, I am very excited about the new film and expect a Star Wars with a new flair. Let me know in the comments what your opinion is and what feelings and thoughts the trailer evokes in you.
