With a video, the Japanese YouTube channel of Ubisoft accidentally distributed information about the new open-world game Star Wars Outlaws. It looks like you can play it starting in August. According to the leak, the expensive editions of the game will include some cosmetics.
When will Star Wars Outlaws be released?
- According to the description of the now-deleted video, Star Wars Outlaws is set to release on August 30, 2024.
- The game will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. In Outlaws, you play as a rogue in the criminal underworld instead of a Jedi or Sith.
- The video is supposed to go live officially on April 9 at 6:00 PM, so this information comes a few hours too early.
What’s in the Deluxe Edition? The description also showed what content is included in the Gold and Ultimate Editions of Star Wars Outlaws (via Insider-Gaming).
According to this, the two expensive versions will include a season pass and a 3-day early access in addition to the game. Those who pre-order are supposed to receive the Kessel Runner Bonus Pack with some cosmetic items: cosmetics for your speeder and your spaceship.
In a footnote, it is stated that the contents may change and could possibly be sold or given away later in the shop.
Here you can see 10 minutes of gameplay from the game:
Outlaws foregoes a Jedi as the main character, letting you dive into the underworld
Star Wars Outlaws was extensively presented at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. After many games where you either played soldiers in the war between the Empire and Rebels or directly as Jedi and Sith, Outlaws offers some variety.
You play as the rogue Kay Vess, an outlaw and thief who fights for her survival and takes on a ton of different jobs. Visually, the protagonist resembles the famous gunslinger Han Solo.
Ubisoft is the publisher and Massive Entertainment is the developer behind Outlaws. Massive previously created Far Cry 3 and The Division 1 and 2. Outlaws was the top topic and reminds fans especially of The Division. The gameplay features such as:
- Stealth gameplay with crouching and silent sneaking
- Classic elements of cover shooters
- The speeder as a means of transportation, a kind of motorcycle, as well as your own spaceship
- A cute alien as a companion
While the gameplay was well received, there were also skeptics who think that it all looked a bit too good. With the new trailer, presumably more about the game will be revealed, and if the leak is correct, you can see for yourself in August.
