Although he hasn’t done much in the movies, Mace Windu is one of the most iconic Jedi from Star Wars. This is mainly due to Samuel L. Jackson, who has a special connection to his character. In an interview, he mentioned that he does not believe Mace Windu is dead.
Who is Mace Windu? Mace Windu is an important member of the Jedi Order whom we meet in the Star Wars prequel films. He is played by Samuel L. Jackson, who evidently has a special connection to his character. Even his lightsaber has a personal inscription.
In Star Wars: Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith, Mace Windu dies after confronting Chancellor Palpatine and getting his hand cut off by Anakin, falling out of the window. However, many fans do not believe that Mace Windu is truly dead. And Samuel L. Jackson does not seem to believe that either.

Mace Windu is still alive according to Jackson
What did Samuel L. Jackson say about it? In a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (via Facebook), the actor spoke about iconic roles in his career. Naturally, he also discusses the Jedi Mace Windu. He references an interview he conducted about Mace Windu. Jackson believes that Windu isn’t really dead. He explains this to Fallon as follows:
I mean, there is a history, a long history of one-armed, one-handed people in the Star Wars universe. […] Just because they chopped my arm off and I fell out of the window, does that mean I’m dead? Yeah, I’m a Jedi. The second most powerful Jedi in the universe, after Yoda.
Jackson also knows what Mace Windu is up to: He is out there and is on Earth with Jules. Jules is Jackson’s character from Pulp Fiction. Jackson also believes that Jules is still out there having adventures.
Samuel L. Jackson might be right: Even in the first trilogy, Luke lost his hand, and in general, Star Wars is known for allegedly resurrecting characters who were thought to be dead. Characters like Palpatine or Darth Maul have returned, despite suffering a worse fate than Mace Windu.
How likely is it that we will see Mace Windu again? In principle, this is possible as long as the timeline of the series or movie takes place during Mace Windu’s lifetime. He has also already taken on a lead role in a franchise series. In Secret Invasion, he played his Marvel character Nick Fury. In the upcoming Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew, however, it is quite unlikely, as this takes place after Episode 6.
