Star Wars Galaxies fans can once again dive into adventures in a galaxy far far away, as the Stella Bellum team will soon launch a new server where the space MMORPG will be emulated.
Star Wars Galaxies was a second home for many fans and a true sandbox. Many MMORPG players miss the free housing system in more modern genre representatives. However, the MMO was shut down almost exactly 5 years ago. It was replaced by the much more story-driven MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. For some fans, this was not a good trade. Perhaps both games could have existed side by side due to their different focuses. But the decision was made, and SWG fans lost their home.
Return to the Star Wars universe
Soon they will be able to return, as the Stella Bellum team invites all fans to play on the soon-to-launch EMU server. The doors will open on December 16th. Here the NGE (New Game Enhancements) version will be playable. The latest version that was on the official servers before they were shut down. This may not please many hardcore fans, as purists preferred the original version of the MMO. Nevertheless, it represents a fantastic opportunity to once again indulge in nostalgic feelings and revive the past.
Join in!
The team states that they have worked in secrecy for many years and it is finally time: Star Wars Galaxies can return. Currently, eight people are working on the game. Anyone who wants to join in should keep an eye on the official Stella Bellum forum. There the launch will be announced, and you will also find a guide on how to log in.
However, whether Electronic Arts is okay with this remains to be seen. Although the team does not charge any money, the entire project is in a legal gray area. Therefore, it is not unlikely that EA will eventually intervene.
