Star Wars: Battlefront: Death Star DLC makes the shooter really interesting

With the newly released DLC Death Star for “Season Pass” owners, the online shooter Star Wars: Battlefront is given new life.

The shooter has not been able to fully convince from the beginning. As described in our review, it is a good action game, but lacks long-term motivation. A real campaign would have benefited the game, making it more suitable for a quick round. However, the DLC Death Star adds a three-stage game mode that plays almost like a mini-campaign, significantly enhancing the online shooter.

Clear the path for the Star Destroyer!

The mode begins in space. X-Wing pilots are trying to reach the Death Star, but an imperial Star Destroyer is “in the way.” The Rebels’ task is to destroy as many enemy TIE fighters as possible until a Y-Wing bomber attack can be launched to destroy the Star Destroyer. This clears the way for the Rebels and their transport. This transport eventually lands on the battle station to secure a droid.

This represents the second phase of the game mode. The Rebels fight their way through the corridors of the Death Star to find the droid and bring it back to the transport. The players on the Empire’s side are, of course, trying to prevent this. In this phase, even Darth Vader can appear, which is not good news for the Rebels. Once the droid is secured, the final phase begins.

The Death of the Death Star

In this phase, the Rebel fighters swoop over the surface of the Death Star with their fighters. Three of the players are selected to fly through the well-known trench to fire a torpedo into the exhaust port. If this fails and time is still on the clock, three more Rebel pilots are selected for another attempt. Accordingly, the players on the Empire’s side try to stop the Rebels.

The game mode “Battle Station” of the DLC Death Star shows how much fun Star Wars: Battlefront can be. Such escalating phases would have benefited the rest of the game as well. But perhaps this is also a glimpse of what to expect in the second part. The DLC Death Star will be released on October 4th for everyone, even those who do not own a Season Pass.
