Star Wars Battlefront 2: Official reveal teaser shows first images

Even before the Star Wars Celebration, a first trailer for the upcoming online shooter Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has surfaced, giving a glimpse into the story of the single-player campaign.

Update 14.4.: The leaked trailer seems to have been accurate. Earlier, the first official teaser for Star Wars Battlefront 2 was released. It shows only a few seconds that were already present in the leak. Tomorrow, a “longer trailer” is supposed to be published.

The story seems to play a central role in the upcoming shooter. The trailer shows Imperial soldiers witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star on the forest moon of Endor. But this does not mark the end of the war between the Rebellion and the Galactic Empire. Driven by revenge, the soldiers want the Emperor’s death to not be in vain.

This seems to hint that we may experience the birth of the “First Order” in the new game. That dark organization which threatens the New Republic in the Star Wars film Episode 7.

New heroes are needed in the galaxy

But the multiplayer battles will not be neglected in Star Wars Battlefront 2. According to the trailer, these are set to take place in all eras of the films. For example, the dark Sith Lord Darth Maul from Star Wars Episode 1 is visible, who will likely be one of the heroes on the side of evil.

If you look closely at the video, you can see how Jedi Master Yoda confronts him. Kylo Ren, the villain from Star Wars Episode 7, is also visible. Apparently, some new heroes will be introduced, which will play a decisive role in the outcome of the multiplayer battles.

The video is edited quickly and also shows a ground battle, in which the mounts Tauntauns apparently play a role. An imperial AT-AT appears, just like the Millennium Falcon, which is being chased over a planet’s surface by two TIE Fighters.

Space battles also seem to be included, as X-wing fighters attack a Star Destroyer in one scene.

Release date for Star Wars Battlefront 2?

However, there is no further information on a release date for Star Wars: Battlefront 2. We might learn more at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, which takes place from April 13 to 16. Because the trailer was supposed to be presented at this event.

It is estimated that the release date will fall into the Christmas season of 2017 – so in the autumn. The film “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is set to be released on December 14/15, 2017, and surely Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be in stores beforehand.
